can you see this getting beat today ?
Report Eddie Casino • May 25, 2012 9:23 AM BST
he's short enough now in all honesty, expense claim has some fairly solid form and while the fav's first run was promising, they finished in a bit of a heap in a messy race.

May well win but cant say at evens I'll be rushing out to back him
Report TheJudge • May 25, 2012 11:26 AM BST
Jungle beat looked like a shaggy dog at Newmarket but he did look a nice type an if he's straighter here he would be the value

Gosden wouldnt have pitched Michaelangelo into listed company if he wasnt a serious horse though

No worries Cool
Report TheJudge • May 25, 2012 12:01 PM BST
I think he'll win then Id rather take a shade of odds on without JB than 5/4 with him in the field

Perennial and Expense claim no great shakes

Wins on the snaff
Report SergeantMarcel • May 25, 2012 12:10 PM BST
What price was jungle beat with most firms before it came out?
Report MyOhMy • May 25, 2012 12:11 PM BST
Michelangelo is my NAP today, should drift out before the off because of the trainers - as they should all look nice in paddock.
Report brigust1 • May 25, 2012 1:07 PM BST
Perennial has the form in the book. 5/1 knowing it's at least Listed class or 4/5 and 2/1 two horses yet to prove it. No brainer for me.
Report AdrianMole • May 25, 2012 1:37 PM BST
Did it not get a little outpaced on debut? Track could be a problem
Report brucewayne • May 25, 2012 1:40 PM BST
Think Michelangelo will be just too good stepping up in distance on only his second outing! Just so many positives and that's what you want when backing odds on Cool

Did it not get a little outpaced on debut?

A bit, but was a terrible race with a really muddled pace
Report brigust1 • May 25, 2012 1:51 PM BST
In his stable tour C Hills thought Perennial was Group class and unlucky not to be unbeaten at 2. Ran unexpectedly flat last time when hot favourite was entered in the Dante and Derby.
Balding never mentioned Expense Claim in his stable tour at all.
John Gosden's horse was 15/2 in a 5 runner race where they finshed in a heap. Too short for me.
Report brucewayne • May 25, 2012 2:22 PM BST
brigust1 - you may well be right with your selection but it seems you are only put off Michelangelo due to his price, would that be fair? His first run against Noble Mission was a very good run considering the way the race unfolded and he is sure to have come on a lot from that outing! Trainer is in great form and the extra furlong here will benefit Michelangelo! Can't see the ground being a problem and the race in general isn't the highest of quality! Hard to find negatives in the fav.
Report brigust1 • May 25, 2012 3:25 PM BST
Bruce of course the price is important and through Jungle Beat and Mister Music he has the beating of Perennial but racing doesn't always work out that way. When I look at a race I look to see what the possible excuses might be if they lose. With the favourie there is the possibilty, as it wasn't backed, that it was flattered in a small field, slowly run affair. That's all.
Perennial, on the other hand, has already proved he is Group class what he needs to do is show that is his true form.
I would rather back horses that have already proved a certain ability than one who is expected to prove it.
I've backed Perennial to win and the favourite as a saver. Works for me.

Gosden was very sweet on Michelangelo in a recent CH4 interview I seem to remember.
Report ThunderRoad • May 25, 2012 3:41 PM BST
Should win but certainly not value @ 1.75!

I thought it may get a outpaced again, but not as much as that.

Thought Expense Claim had it from the turn in.
