can you see this getting beat today ?
|
|
By:
he's short enough now in all honesty, expense claim has some fairly solid form and while the fav's first run was promising, they finished in a bit of a heap in a messy race.
May well win but cant say at evens I'll be rushing out to back him |

Jungle beat looked like a shaggy dog at Newmarket but he did look a nice type an if he's straighter here he would be the value
Gosden wouldnt have pitched Michaelangelo into listed company if he wasnt a serious horse though |

I think he'll win then Id rather take a shade of odds on without JB than 5/4 with him in the field
Perennial and Expense claim no great shakes |

Wins on the snaff

What price was jungle beat with most firms before it came out?
|
|
By:
Michelangelo is my NAP today, should drift out before the off because of the trainers - as they should all look nice in paddock.
|
|
By:
Perennial has the form in the book. 5/1 knowing it's at least Listed class or 4/5 and 2/1 two horses yet to prove it. No brainer for me.
|
|
By:
Did it not get a little outpaced on debut? Track could be a problem
|
|
By:
Think Michelangelo will be just too good stepping up in distance on only his second outing! Just so many positives and that's what you want when backing odds on

A bit, but was a terrible race with a really muddled pace |
|
By:
In his stable tour C Hills thought Perennial was Group class and unlucky not to be unbeaten at 2. Ran unexpectedly flat last time when hot favourite was entered in the Dante and Derby.
Balding never mentioned Expense Claim in his stable tour at all. John Gosden's horse was 15/2 in a 5 runner race where they finshed in a heap. Too short for me. |

brigust1 - you may well be right with your selection but it seems you are only put off Michelangelo due to his price, would that be fair? His first run against Noble Mission was a very good run considering the way the race unfolded and he is sure to have come on a lot from that outing! Trainer is in great form and the extra furlong here will benefit Michelangelo! Can't see the ground being a problem and the race in general isn't the highest of quality! Hard to find negatives in the fav.

Bruce of course the price is important and through Jungle Beat and Mister Music he has the beating of Perennial but racing doesn't always work out that way. When I look at a race I look to see what the possible excuses might be if they lose. With the favourie there is the possibilty, as it wasn't backed, that it was flattered in a small field, slowly run affair. That's all.
Perennial, on the other hand, has already proved he is Group class what he needs to do is show that is his true form. I would rather back horses that have already proved a certain ability than one who is expected to prove it. I've backed Perennial to win and the favourite as a saver. Works for me. |

Gosden was very sweet on Michelangelo in a recent CH4 interview I seem to remember.

Should win but certainly not value @ 1.75!

He gave me a sweat anyways haha I didn't expect it that close but the poor start was obviously behind that! Looks a very good horse - and one I will follow (maybe not back tho)
