Sea The Stars a great horse.... but look at the cast list of runner ups in his Group 1 races at 3: Delegator, Fame And Glory twice, Rip Van Winkle , Mastercraftsman and Youmzain

None of these will go down in the annals of racing as great horses and Sea The Stars sadly never beat any of them by more than 2 1/2 lengths.

Would Frankel beat these horses by 2 1/2 lengths? I would venture at least 4, if not 5 or more every time



but theres were good horses. mastercraftsman was a v v good horse, what has excellebration done that makes him a better horse than him? please show me, what finished 2nd by 4 L to frankel? mstar wouldve done that. he even has a line of form with rio de la plata as a 2 yr old.  as for delegator, he was a totally different animal when he was with brian meehan, godolphin cant train and the horse clearly soured. fame and glory beat sariska, won an irish derby, was 2nd in the english derby, won a g1 in france as a 2 yr old and his form stands up. canford cliffs was all out to beat rip van winkle in the sussex and only got him on the line regardless of how easy hughes made it look, if the line was 50yards closer he'd have been beat. conduit won the king george, 2 breeders cup turfs and was a very talented horse all round.

where do these people get the idea that excelebratipon is THAT much better , show me the evidence because so far IM SHOWING evidence, im proving he is no better than the likes of mastercraftsman and master has more g1s for a start, alot more.

so can someone please show me how excelebration is so much better  and i dont wanna hear if frankel wasnt around he'd me a superstar. the fact remains he didnt win all of those races and frankel IS around and if frankel wasnt around, what rating would excelebration have? i bet it wouldnt be far short of one of the highest rating ever given to a miler. and then what would we be rating the 2nd in the german guineas who hasnt won a race in about 10 tries bar his first, what would he have been rated? then we think about rio de la plata who finished over a length behind him in france and had this mighty horse all out to do so, what would we be rating him? dubawi gold the third fav in the race on sat, he finished a few lengths behinf excelebration, what would we be rating him if he kept finishing 2nd to excelebration?

the rating can be interpreted any way u want and u can pick any horse thats ever run and somehow manipulate it so that their run looks sh!te.

The Timeform ratings shizzle is bending my brainbox, Excellebration is rated higher than Giant's Causeway and the same as Rock Of Gibraltar, if that doesn't make you wonder about these buffoons nothing will. The ratings currently being handed out has made the thing a farce and is hugely disrespectful to connections of past great horses imo.

the funny thing about ratings is that if we did take frankel out and excelebration won all of those races, he would now be rated what frankel is now and dubawi gold/zoffany would be rated close to what he is. the whole system is so subjective and tunnel visioned they are pointless but a handy overall guide to who the best horse is.

Let's take the Prescott horses for example.. typically schooled round over 6f or whatever, then they get some sheety handicap mark of 50, and step up in trip to 14f and win about 10 in a row.

Although people would still be plotting horses because it wouldn't matter if he put them over 14f on their first few runs because they can't be that fit anyway.

lets say he had a TF rating of 140 over a mile but 0 over 10 and 12 F

Very good point regarding the breeding.. definitely an incentive to run your horse over different distances. Plus whack in that stallion rule I mentioned the other day that horses can only be bred from 5 years and over - P R O B L E M  S O L V E D

I think it would make a lot of trainers try more with their horses too. Let's say the only way a horse's handicap mark could go down for the set distance is through them actually racing at that distance. It would therefore become a slower process if trying to decrease the handicap mark of a horse.

Flat horses could have a separate handicap mark for every 2f.. eg..

5/6f (handicap mark) = the same
7/8f = the same
9/10f = the same
11f/12f = the same

etc etc

As for jumps.. I'd go for..
16f-19f
20f-23f
24f-28f
29f+

If you dont think frankel will step up you are misguided , its paramount that the horse is going to setle over a longer trip or they wont risk it , QA will be a reinforcement of the horses mental maturity seen in the lockinge then once all and sundry are blown away in the champion stakes all doubts will be gone as to who the greatest racehorse of all time is

hello hes 4 and has beaten the same horse over the same trip about 4 times now

he'll never win a derby  or arc, there will always be unanswered questions with this horse.

his followers use the this 'henry will step up when hes sure he'll settle' hes settled fine, problem is his connections want to elimate as much risk as possible and if that means running him in a backend  weak g1  like the champions stakes against over the top horses then so be it.

hes got a middle distance pedigree hes 4, hes raced and beaten the same horses over and over and he hasnt even run beyond a mile yet.

Frankel one of the best I have seen , from 1950 onwards when I first watched horse racing .

The problem is that the very highly rated horses tend to race at over a mile  , and ratings are very influenced by horses who gallop others into submission over distances in excess of a mile .

Secretariat has to be the best ever going on triple crown and speed figures .  He was a monster of a horse who raced not unlike Frankel  , albeit over longer distances so far . But we tend not to trust horses who have the "advantage" of performing under a less stringent jurisdiction than we operate in Europe . People also forget that a certain southern hemisphere country was where substances capable of improving a horses performance ( illegally) came from to UK racing in the sixties .

Nijinsky was the last winner of our Triple Crown , which makes him the most versatile horse of the last 60 years , but a completely different type of horse to Frankel , plus he had the genius aboard .  Along with Sea Bird , Mill Reef , Brigadier Gerard these horse set the standards , and I am not sure Sea The Stars was better ( or as good) than any of those .  We will never know , thats one of the best thing about debates over generations .
