It's been up and down like a ****'s drawers for the last few days. Can't you afford decent kit? It really is worse than poor performance for such a high-profile outfit. Get your backsides into gear guys.

It's yet another very simple thing that we can add to the long list of failures this multi-million pound company achieves on a daily basis...

Report Reged May 18, 2012 7:38 PM BST
And, of course. complete radio silence from bnetfair on the subject - like when we might be able to access it again. Wonder if they're even bothering to do anything about it, given it's the weekend.
Report carrot1960 May 18, 2012 7:39 PM BST
its in our terms and regulations , so it wont be our fault and if it is we will blame a third party
Report melburner May 18, 2012 8:08 PM BST
I have just joined the forum to find wtf the problem is with Timeform.
I thought it might be because I'm on the other side of the planet and it is 5.00am Saturday here in Melbourne but seems its not just me.
I use Google Chrome usually and have Firefox to test. I've been in IT for 35yrs and internet for 16yrs. The problem is definately at the Timeform server. I'd say their server has died and no one has worked it out yet. See message below:
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at form.horseracing.betfair.com Port 80
Report bf_fananatic May 18, 2012 8:10 PM BST
Hi Melburner, timeform seems to go offline everyday now at BST 17:00 and later...
Report melburner May 18, 2012 8:24 PM BST
Hi bf_fananatic. So whoever is leaving the building at 5.00pm really is switching everything OFF!!!
Report melburner May 18, 2012 8:27 PM BST
Could the answer be this incredibly simple and stupid?
Report Reged May 18, 2012 8:34 PM BST
no mel, I think they have heavy duty issues that they have left to late to solve properly ... might even be with a third party storage supplier or somesuch. I worked for a co once that relied on Amazon for its data storage and when Amazons one European datacentre in Ireland went belly up we were screwed.

But of course no one tells us what is going on.
Report melburner May 18, 2012 8:42 PM BST
Reged, I thought that was the most likely.
My comment was rather tongue-in-cheek. But I do remember when large corporations had redundant systems. Even bank sites are falling over too often now.
Report fawwon May 18, 2012 8:57 PM BST
Just got a text from them

We understand small pockets of users are experiencing minor setback whilst connecting to the results/form webpage, please clear your temp int files, i.o.o. (in our opinion)
Report melburner May 18, 2012 9:05 PM BST
Tell them to get in touch with reality and that the small pocket of users is called planet Earth.
It has nothing to do with any users computer or internet service.
It is a 502 Bad Gateway message. This means that their gateway is not getting the web page requested from their web server because the protocols are badly coded.
Report Reged May 18, 2012 9:06 PM BST
That is utter baloney - I clear my cache regularly (just done it). Makes no difference.
Report Reged May 18, 2012 9:07 PM BST
Everyone affected needs to bombard them with emails IMHO

help@timeform.com

Then they might get the message. I'm off to write mine.
Report melburner May 18, 2012 9:12 PM BST
Don't know about you but the Timeform site just loaded like lightning. The message must have got through. ;-)

Report Reged May 18, 2012 9:23 PM BST
Yeah, getting it on Chrome too. Send em an email mel ...
Report fawwon May 18, 2012 9:27 PM BST
We understand large pockets of users are currently throwing their computers out of the window
Report melburner May 18, 2012 9:54 PM BST
Reg...sent with a few possibilities to fix. The load balancing module in an Apache Server can be complex and if the protocols are not right, you get the "502 Bad Gateway" message. Lets see how long it takes.
faw...I'd like to know how many there are. I say more than a few between me in OZ and "Pomgolia", no matter which way you go around the world.

I also got this from Timeform:

Our free form site is currently under-performing. It is at best very slow and some users are unable to connect at all. Obviously we have engineers working to find a solution as a matter of urgency but unfortunately it is taking much longer to remedy than we had hoped.

Hi again from the other side of planet Earth.
While all of you were tucked up in bed (3.00am UK time / 12.00 noon Melb time) I was able to access the Results but it was slower than a snail.
Now I can get the splash page but as soon as I try to click thru to any meaning info it times out.

Reged..I just got the same email 33 minutes ago as aresponse to my email to the help desk last night

Thank you for your enquiry.
