Carlisle in May early 1990's, I turned up in a nice new suit. It was freezing cold and it chucked it down all afternoon. The rep asked me where my coat was and I just shrugged my shoulders . . . .
A lesson learnt |

Still cant place this skinto fella - even looking at that sepia photo !! Does anybody have a description that would help ? If he's been going to Yarmouth since 1973 shouldn't the course name a race after him ? How about The Keep It Under Your Hat/Mac Selling Stakes ?

Alan Pye, who bet under 'Duggie Pye' (His Father), was a great bookmaker. The best caller of a bet and i have clerked for many. There was no, 13/8 to £70 with Alan, it was, (as you know, 113 3/4 to 70). He was a charming, very intelligent man. When going to Newmarket, we would pick him up in Norwich and he would always sit in the back of the car with, The Times Crossword. I can't remember too many times, (if you will excuse the pun), when it wasn't completed by the time we reached our destination!

tight b astard . should have been 114 to 70

Interesting to hear that the Hod was carried off from Yarmouth Dogs, it might have been the same one that was sold on ebay recently, not sure how much it went for in the end...
