I was just about to post the same on the "Wide Draw on Soft Ground" thread.

In answer to your question though it might just be that connections of the runner in 11 fancy a day out even if the draw is against them.

I also see that Tom Dascombe's two are entered tomorrow, one drawn 1 and the other 12. Will be interesting to see if either runs given I doubt the ground will be any different.

I suspect number 12 might not Magyar..

Will be interesting to see the excuses for not running though..

Tsken from the Bletherings section of Mark Johnston's (trainer of Heavy Metal who was due to run from stall 14) offical website posted by him yesterday:

==================================================================================================
That said, the situation at Chester is even more ridiculous when we have a situation whereby the worst drawn horses are so disadvantaged that they may as well not turn up. It is no surprise that many of the poorly drawn horses, particularly in the sprints, will be withdrawn and the authorities, rather than look to force connections to run their horse, should be asking themselves whether it is acceptable to run races with such a bias.
Heavy Metal is drawn 14 of 14 over five furlongs on Wednesday and I am wondering whether it is physically possible to win from that draw. Has it ever been done?
===================================================================================================

Now taken out? There has to be some serious questions about this practice. And even against the vets who regularly must put in ficticious reasons for the horses not turning up.

Thoughts?

Not a bother on me blackbarn, and may i wish you the same.

And don't get me started on vets, SS..

Been out all morning and came on here when I saw the withdrawals for this race .These withdrawals make early price markets a joke but that won't concern these trainers. Hope BHA are monitoring which trainers do this . Consideration must be given to withdrawing serial offenders' right to self certificate . Any vet who issues a certificate with the main purpose of avoiding a bad draw should be hauled up before whatever the vets equivalent of the General Medical Council . A responsible qualified vet - like Mark Johnston - would never condon this sort of practice........ would he?

Heavy Metal taken out because of the going apparently.................

4 down to the going (including Dascombes ) and one lame.

Wonder if it will be wet and heavy enough for Trinityelitedotcom to run tomorrow ?
Report guinness2dear May 10, 2012 1:02 PM BST
Still running, must have gotten soft enough then..

If Johnston thinks it's 'ridiculous' and 'unacceptable', then why does he enter horses at Chester at all?

If he got drawn 1, we wouldn't hear a peep (nap)
