The Byrds put her in a tight spot,The Byrds had a song called Pretty Polly and the key word in the clue was tight as in hosiery,no wonder Dunlaying got it.I really liked the way Jimmy69 went about that clue,he quite correctly came up with Tambourine but he was the winner of the first Irish Sweeps Derby,trained by Etienne Pollet and ridden by Roger Poincelet he broke Irish hearts by beating the John Oxx [sen] trained Arctic Storm a short head.

Thank you 1895 GN winner...a most enjoyable quiz that was. Well done the dead heaters and  all who took part...

I have done a few of these but this was without doubt the best and most exciting,i was thinking in Grand National terms it was like Crisp and Red Rum Dunlaying out clear soaring over his fences but being reeled in by Jimmy69 but then where do yuo fit in the even later rattle from ged,in the end a triple dead heat between ged who we know to be mustard,Dunlaying who kept his nerve and answered the last question when he needed to and finally the previously unknown Jimmy69 who took to it like a duck to water and with a proper Corinthian spirit.
One recurring theme in all these is the ability of the posters to come up with better answers than my own,Stewarts Rise has perfected this and deserves great credit for his brilliant lateral thinking.
Thanks to all who participated and showing that there are plenty on here with a deep knowledge of racing and indeed just deep knowledge.
