same as, said technical error or something. Then at the end of the race my bet had been matched

Post race in photo betting all I was getting was a crappy error message. Left with lovely green on the second.

onlooker was it betting 4.6 and 24  in the photo and still offering odds on all the other runners . the only reason i would not bet the 24 the winner in the photo was it would be voided just like the voler le vedette race . wish i had placed it now as it would have proved my arguement.how the operator can say there was no problem and no one complaing is beyond me . he just did not want to know saying there was no point speaking to the tech team as there was nothing wrong and they would see the same as him

Will they do the decent thing and refund all bets? Telling you your bet was not made and then all of a sudden when the race was up, the bets where matched..

I laid in-running as well,BF wouldn't take bet with  screen saying technical difficulties. No option to cancel etc but lay came through after the race was over.

IR market was a nightmare...laid Weird Al just before the off cos he was looking reluctant to line up...immediately wanted to get out after it took the first 2 fine but could i fook...error message...error message...freezing....had to go into account and current bets to see what was being matched etc...i had laid Synchronised (RIP) big pre-race also and it wouldnt have been pretty for me if i'd had to be trying to get out of that too...there's too much money at stake to be left sitting there helpless....i will not be betting IR on GN in 12 months time

during the day had several bets that flashed up were experencing problems go to your my bets section and was told you do not have any bets and had to place bets again and then they were matched no problem but in the national it told you had no bets but they then appeared matched after the race was over

this issue where people place bets and they wouldnt get matched saying technical difficulties, i have that happen on football markets now and again, also sometimes 2 bets get placed instead of one!! beftfair deny this happens and continue to get away with this crap...

got through to be told there was a problem with site gave me options and phone  was answered straight away only to be told nothing was wrong with site except deposits when i pointed out the complaints on the forum the operator kept telling me nothing was on there even after i told him the title of the complaint and how far down he would find it and after that he said there was still nothing there

gruss was working fine for me .

what internet providers are you all using ?

it wasnt internet provider, that would have no bearing. It was probably a server bandwidth issue, the bandwidth allocated to certain users based on xyz variables. The race odds seemed to be displayed with a lag of a good 30 seconds, my screen had both 1st and 2nd at odds of 5s+ as they crossed the line and the race was suspended on my screen at this point. When it reopened for photo finish the odds played out like the end of the race

I normally use Bt Infinity. Typical speeds 37 download, 8 upload.

I was using Bet Angel Pro, wasn't a problem at all during or after the race.....I'm NOT trying to defend BF here, after all they don't have the best of records in such situations, but seems that the problem was not universal.

the argument it was working fine on gruss is irrelevant. the betfair interface did not take inrunning bets properly. customers could not manage their positions, it was unclear if bets were taken, and money was lost where bet offers were left up that punters COULD NOT cancel

your explanation seems a good posibility . i have no technological qualifications, but something clearly didn't work for some, but was working for others .

Its not the fact things went wrong really its the absolute denial from Betfair thats upsetting

duncan idaho problem of techinical issues  occured several times during the day as i attempted to place bets prior to the start of a race the screen  telling me to go to the my bets section  then telling me i had no bets , i would then go to my account details check if the bet was taken  then go back and place the bet again. what happened with the national was different after i had checked the my bets section and the screen said you have no bets i checked my account details and the money had not been taken which meant bets had not been placed and i went back to the race  but because it was an in running race  and the price was bigger than i asked and the horse was not going so easy i did not go in again only to see the bet appear a couple of minutes later as matched when everything else told me their were no bets . as ken o'sback said its also the fact that betfair said there was not a problem and i was the only one complaining when there was several other blogs complaing of the same problem at that time and a lot more since . yet their operator did not see any point in getting the techinical team involved despite me asking him several times to do so and let them get back to me

I had exactly the same troubles as the OP described, but there's no point wasting my time with a redundant phone call as they ALWAYS say the same sh*te!

I did put bets in-running and when I made them I got the "bla-bla-bla technical bla-bla-bla" in a big red banner I thought the bet didn't got matched because of that message, then right at the end of the race it suddenly appeared as a matched bet

this is theft, pure theft and nobody seems to care (nobody with some power to stop this, at least)

if this happened in high street shops there would be uproar b/f could not give to fxxxs i win money on market but would have win more if there was no balls up

had desperate problems trying to bet in running in the Grand National here..... kept getting stupid "refresh" message.
Meanwhile, found I had put on the same bet about 4 times thinking the first had not got matched, screen failed to display the repeated bets I had made....

Lost a bit, but could have been a lot worse as bets finally came up a minute later and was able to cancel them... but had no idea whether my cancellations had been accepted until another couple of minutes later or whether someone had stolen my money whilst waiting for the cancel to get processed....

Every bet I tried to place got the same error message as the rest of you - but the annoying thing was that some went through and others didn't. Clearly a server capacity issue. Absolute rubbish.

sorry, not read the thread - what price was NC after they crossed the finish line? I was watching slow mo, figured he had won and BF was showing 16 NC - I tried to match, but the system was all seized up.

I said at 4.25 "Why is betfair still going 4 the 2 horses going across the line. No one replied so i thought it was just i that had not refreshed

After more than 5 hours and a confirmation email from betfair I am still waiting for my complaint to be addressed!

I know for a fact I am not the only one to comp[lain about this issue as the betfair forum is awash with the very same complaint as mine.

After contacting you by phone I have been told that I must email you regarding a complaint I have involving 2 bets placed on the Grand National.

During the Grand National I decided to place a bet in running at 14:29. Upon placing your system informed me that my bet was being processed and after 20 seconds or so a message was displayed informing me that your site was experiencing difficulties and and to try again later therefore I assumed my bet was not processed which was confirmed by no bets listed in the "My Bets" section.

Seconds later at 14:30 I placed the very same bet only to be met with the exact same information regarding site difficulties and still no indication that my bet(s) had been placed.

There was no matched bets in the "My Bets" section and also no indications of the stakes wagered or the proposed win amount under any of the horses names in the race.

After this I glanced at my balance and I noticed that the funds for the above bets had been deducted from my account but still there was no sign of them within the "My Bets" section. I simply though this was a mistake and due to the site experiencing difficulties the funds would reappears in my account once the issues had been resolved.

This was not the case and a few minutes AFTER the race had finished my bets were listed as matched!

This is absolutely shocking and I had no intention at all to place the exact same bet twice. It was only because my original bet had not been placed that I proceeded to try again and never at any time did it state that my bet had been matched until well after the race.

I have called Betfair and they advised my to email this to you as I am seeking a refund of at least the 2nd bet as it is very clear that the difficulties on the Betfair site has caused this problem.

I await your swift reply.

VDV is an entirely different matter and not one i have any sympathy with.

sadly it's in Betfair's TC's that they cannot be held responsible for your losses due to their own technological failures

Customer accountability or corporate responsibility? Not much of it around here I'm afraid. Betfair will just be happy that we all had enough funds in our accounts to cover liabilities and to collect their commission for providing the so-called "service". Apparently that's all we peasants deserve.

the same thing as described above happened to me, too. i attempted to place some trivial bets in running just to amuse myself but error messages came up saying they hadn't been processed, so i re-tried three times with one horse and twice more with another, only to then find out, towards the end, that ALL bets had in fact been layed.

Yesterday during the Grand National the site was not fit for purpose. No point in trying to get compensation as it will of course be ignored.

Next year I will not be betting on the race on here.

Betfair have a history on this.
Wasn't it the national a few years ago or was it the derby where everything collapsed under the pressure and they became a laughing stock from bookies who took out ads in the papers etc pointing the finger at them, and this was pre floatation.
It was the single race and was as described as one forum user as " about 30 seconds behind".... Bets placed wouldn't show so cancelling had no effect while they were 'en-route' which meant you had no idea of your position. This was also the case for existing bets where the cancel command couldn't be processed.
All in all it meant that the prices were no reflection on the events taking place, fallen horses looking available to back etc.
I recall this very same issue happening a while back on a normal race due to overload, but on that occasion betfair acknowledged the problem and refunded people effected (where bets had be inputted twice as a result of not seeing their bets).
This time it seems to be different. Betfair must know of the problems, not knowing is perhaps a more serious problem than the issue IMO, but pretending there were no issues is counter productive.
It simply looks to me like they are trying to look more competent than they are for the sake of the share price which is a dangerous game.
Remember they alluded to the fact that the 'small fish' were paramount to the betting Eco system on here, but when they get a large amount of custom the system fails.

Same here,ir was chaotic during G N,message saying you have no bets then it displays the bets,then won't cancel the bets.The prices on my screen during second half of the race bore no relation to what was actually happening in the race.Very worrying that betfair deny there was a problem....No ir on this site during next years G N for me.

You will have to go to IBAS..... who have already ruled that Betfair have zero responsibility for the IT systems that support their platform and markets.

according to betfair results the winners biggest price i/r was 50/1. crossing the melling road it was the only one of the leading bunch to come under pressure and imo should have been much bigger than 50's.  In the race after Betfair report the biggest price Lifestyle went i/r was 69/1.  This for a horse that started at BSP 62.81 and didn't look like winning anywhere but after the last.  very strange.
