pretty much in every single race there are jockeys who have no intention of winning and  are making a healthy profit from the exchanges

Are we including Irish racing? If so then lots.

The racing there is absolutely rancid.

Id say in most there are horses that cannot win , honest owners are fighting a losing battle against poor prize money and skullduggery , i feel for them as they are the games life blood

there are trainers who never have any winners but are somehow still involved in the game after many years....I wonder why ;)

in my honest opinion - almost nearly every race have non goers - who's odds suggest they have a good chance ... but that is just the stupidity of the market - however in terms of really fixed races involving trainers we all now to be on the "betting side of the business" i would suggest about 80% are fixed mid week

so a race involving the following trainers :

Ferdy
Micky Hammond
Keith Reveley
Evan Williams
David Pipe
Jonjo
Tim Vaughn

If we don't bet there is no market for these blood leeches ... we should have an early warning system and withold all bets.

I'd say 95% of races are run straight, for the one's that are off and trying.
The problem is trying to identify the one's that are been hucked up for a later date

Minardi, you are a little wide of the mark with Micky Hammond.
He doesn't have a big string, and has moderate horse's, he needs
winners, not losers, the rest of your list is spot on, big omission
is Dandy, he'd be top of my list

unless it is a big money race, the coolmore moneybags have little regard for the betting public, as long as they get their public gallop/easy ride/prep run done.

I heard of a relation of a relation, who told us on occasion..."this is one for the boys"...they let a big priced one bag a lead, and it stayed there....

I think you have a bit of a point on Hammonds - but when they drift forget em - when they are backed watch closely - could put ellison in there - but he uesed to train on of mine so will not comment

I would say every race has at least half of the field trying not to finish too close a horse froma top stable so as to mess up a handicap mark for later on in the season.

Makes me laugh that as soon as a odds on shot loses people seem to think its a fix races. Many on odds shots in football get turned over but nobody claims that to be a fix. People that can't make profit from horses always love using the race was fixed line. But I'm not claiming that racing is 100% clean either.

most sport along the way is fixed but we still do them lol,we would be mugs to think it,s not fixed but you have to admit it is a lot easier to fix a horse race than a football match if a trainer dont want a horse to run a good race then jockey knows to hold him but to try and tell 22 player s to let a goal in bit dif but in answer ll sport some where fix just be lucky enough to be on the right end of it

i dont know how many races are corrupt but I am certain that on the A.W tracks

hardly a race is run where all the participants are trying to win.

Agreed wee eck.Every single race is corrupt to some degree, if you go by the criteria that every horse in a race should be trying 100% to gain its best placing.

You often hear trainers say 'he'll need the run' for example.

This is accepted as part of the game but strictly shouldn't be.

The horse should be trained at home and ready to do its absolute best at the track THAT day.

No-one  bats an eyelid.

Especially with these early season maidens you can see horses clearly not trying to win the race. Often you'll have a fav that shoots off towards the front and powers away, while there will be others that have been buried away at the back before making late headway with no chance of winning. Bookies and BF seem to know more times than not which horses are trying and which are not. Never ceases to amaze me how they work the big field maidens out.

John, what about the jockey who moaned a couple of years ago about being

suspended for 28 days after taking the wrong course, when interviewed at the racecourse

his complaint was you only get 14 days after being caught riding a non trier.

In Ireland the problem is that there are too many useless horses,stupid trainers and mug punters. I was involved in a syndicate who had a horse with a smallish trainer (who has won races at Cheltenham ), He told us that she was great and would have no problems winning races!.I knew one of the stable lads who told me that she was very slow but genuine. After 2 years of excuses the horse was moved to another trainer who, after one month, told us the exact same as the stable lad, but that he would manage to win a race with her. He did. One day she was a fairly strong favoutite for a race at Listowel. The ground had gone against her and we knew that she had no chance. A friend of mine was in a syndicate that owned the second favourite. They had been advised by their well known gambling trainer to have a that good bet on our horse as she was very well fancied and that their horse couldn't beat her. Thus the first and second favourites were both totally unfancied, yet were both being backed. Needless to say both neither were placed. Owners just don't want to hear that their pride and joys are useless and the trainers are content to keep charging them ( and laughing all the way to the bank)
