I list Arazi, Nashwan, Desert Orchid and Istabraq in my top ten favourite horses, but what about your favourites who weren't top class?

Here are four of mine:

1. Takenhall
2. Pinctada
3. Chaplins Club
4. Glencroft

You probably need to be over 40 and if you are you will remember Chaplins and Glencroft who seemed to win a race every week.

But can anyone remember Takenhall? (Apart from being the first horse to carry a sponsored jockey I think) Used to get way behind and come flying home, sometimes in time to win! Loved him to bits I did.

Lochranza was one of my favourites - a game front runner who won 10 times at Ayr in the late 1970's.

good shout poster re; deep impact . i've been to many arcs but the atmosphere that day with the japanese was fantastic . really wanted it to win . glad it failed i suppose as it would have been disqualified later . not a great ride and obviously fairly rubbish piece of training . shame . some great sights that day though .

Blowing Wind.

He was the horse that got me interested in racing.

I was so happy, and relieved, when he made it safely to a happy retirement.

I remember Move Off 1st time poster.  He was a very useful handicapper at his best and won the Zetland Gold Cup in 1976 and the Ebor in 1977.  I'm also pretty sure he won the Old Newton Cup at Haydock one year as well.

Mill Reef beat Fireside Chat on his racecourse debut at Salisbury in 1970.  I think Mill Reef was 8-1 and Fireside Chat was 2-9 fav.

Cawstons Clown!!! - what about his mother? - Cawstons Pride - brilliant 2yo, won by miles on her debut - 100/8 I think - Brian Taylor (rip) for Freddie Maxwell.  I had a thing for precocious 2yo's - It all started with Sky Gipsy.

Arapahos trained by Barry Hills was a very useful staying handicapper.  He used to run in all the top staying races but kept bumping into Le Moss and had no chance of winning.  He beat Pollardstown in the Chester Cup in 1980.
