Racingfan - "odds on favs turned over by the dozen". I think I know what you mean but, thats bo77ocks isn't it?

Good trivia question, What was the last odds on favourite beaten
at the festival? |
By:
Too many triers makes it harder.
We all know the record of shorties at Cheltenham they all seem to have great chances yet it never seems to work's out as punters would want it to. |
By:
will soon find out tues--Sprinter Sacre--arkle
fancy it strongly |
By:
Racingfan - you're the expert obviously. So whats the answer? Is "shorties" a retraction from those "dozens" of "odds on shots"?
By:
Kauto star i think was the last odds on jolly to be beaten at the festival in 2010 Gold Cup, it was the same year that dunguib got turned over at 4-5 in the opening race.
The previous year, there were odds on jollies turned over in consecutive races , voy por ustedes in the ryanair and kasbah bliss in the stayer's hurdle. |
By:
dunguib----irish hurt badly that race--mountains of cash on it

An exaggeration* is the word I think.

Master minded also turned over at odds on in the 2010 QMCC.
Kauto Star also turned over at odds on in the 2008 GC. |
By:
remember jeremy kyle calling it his banker
By:
Master Minded the last I think!, after Dunguib.
I think from a previous thread that odds on shots have about a 50% strike rate at the festival, although there are very few of them, usually 2 per festival. |
By:
There some e/w lucky 15 value possibly in the non handicaps against these shorties if you can get 4 placed at decent odds or possibly with a bit of luck some winners.

Oops - Kauto 8/11 on the Friday 2010 was the last. Gosh there's dozens of them.
By:
Blackbarn, kauto in the 2010 GC is def more recent than your suggestion.
By:
I've given you half a dozen, in that period i can't remember too many winning.
By:
Apart from the two last year!
By:
Rowley - my last may not have been clear! - Two odds on last year and both won.
By:
They were quite handsome collections indeed, i've left you an interesting link on the Burton Port thread.

Hurricane Fly, Big Buck's and Quevega look good favs to win their races not too many on form to upset the applecart but it's Cheltenham and you can't be sure.

Racingfan One and a half of the three will lose! 6 out of every 4 people don't understand statistics.
By:
Meant to add, be hard to pick a loser. Hope it's not the Hurricane!
Well hope it is not any of them! |
