the ante post rule is that bets are accepted all in - run or not, that did not apply here

race was not ante post as it was 48 hour decs and in your instance a r4 may have applied had there been a non runner

it should be settled as best odds guaranteed

TOMORROW'S RACES

You don't need to worry about taking a price again. Quite simply, take an Early Price or Board Price then we'll pay you out at the SP if it's bigger than the price you took.

Report kenny mann February 25, 2012 8:00 PM GMT
Thanks for that Repollag. My mate bet the same horse at around the same time. He's queried it and told it was a palpable error. Not very palpable to me.

I phoned today to confirm if it was bog as it was drifting heavily.

btw I never considered tipping the manage. lol, was just being polite to the poster who suggested it. phone bet anyway.
Report Repollag February 25, 2012 8:06 PM GMT
kenny, nothing palpable about it, they are trying it on. Insist that they listen to the recording and if you are wrong they will let you hear the recording. I had a similar experience with the Nanny and they paid up after listening to the phone call. Although they insisted it was ex-gratia, but who cares what they call it.
Report kenny mann February 25, 2012 8:35 PM GMT
Thanks Repollag. They've just phoned me and told me when I placed the bet yesterday at 2-15pm I was told it was ante post.

It was a tip from the owner who sent an e.mail  at 2-11pm yesterday saying that hills have just "opened" at 11/2!

Kenny.... bigphatairyarse is spot on with his observations (as are many others).

race was not ante post as it was 48 hour decs and in your instance a r4 may have applied had there been a non runner

Flat racing has a 48 hour declaration stage, therefore ante post rules are bloody irrelevant...... the entries were known runners on Thurs (for an example, check Mondays Wolves card, which was declared today). Ask them to define their own ante-post rules!?

The animal in question drifted to a peak of 16/1 on here (14/1 with the books at post time) before late money forced the hands to return an sp of 10/1.

All the best.

Despite the positive replies on here I'm still not being settled at bog.

This is Wiliam Hill's e.mail.

Dear kenny mann

Thank you for contacting William Hill Online.

Please find below the Terms and Conditions for the Best Odds Guaranteed:

What is Best Odds Guaranteed?

Best Odds Guaranteed is our way of ensuring you get the best possible price for your bets. If you place a bet in a Best Odds Guaranteed race and take the price available at the time, if the SP (Starting Price) is a better price, we’ll settle your bet at that better price!

This means no more disappointment if the price gets better and better, you're guaranteed whichever is higher - the SP or the price you took.

On which races will Best Odds Guaranteed be available?

All UK & Irish horse races and every greyhound race offered on this site will be allocated as Best Odds Guaranteed. Best Odds Guaranteed does not apply to ante-post racing.

What type of prices does Best Odds Guaranteed apply to?

Our Best Odds Guaranteed offer applies to online, telephone, text and mobile bets placed at board prices and William Hill Earlybird prices (minimum bet of £20 required to qualify for telephone bets).

IMPORTANT - This offer does not apply to bets where an ante-post, tote or Pari-Mutuel price has been taken. Please also note that this offer is not available via our shops or on bets placed on 'Place Markets', 'Insurance Bets' and 'Betting Without'.

Is the Best Odds Guaranteed offer only available for single bets?

Absolutely not, the offer applies to both your single and multiple bets placed on qualifying races. If your multiple bet contains some Best Odds Guaranteed races, prices in those races will be honoured at either the price you take or the SP, whichever is greater.

I hope this is of use to you.

Best wishes,

They only hear what they wish to hear and then bombard you with scripted word (copied and pasted - Nap). Ask for your case to be escalated away from their call centre, you will be dealing with ignorance personified otherwise......

You could always resort to using their terms against them:

The price they have offered simply cannot be defined as an ante-post bet. They may have offered in error (!?), that however does not mean that they can apply AP terms. If the market concerned was hypothetically subjected to 24 hour decs, they would have been in full possession of a list confirming the runners before the wager was struck at 14:15 on Friday afternoon. The fact remains that this flat race was declared on Thursday morning.
So if it is not an AP, tote, pari-mutuel or a special market wager then it must come under another umbrella...... therefore their following terms must be relevant;

All UK & Irish horse races and every greyhound race offered on this site will be allocated as Best Odds Guaranteed. Best Odds Guaranteed does not apply to ante-post racing.

They have no power to change anything, and probably don't understand what on earth you are complaining about.Send a recorded delivery letter to Ralph Topping (Hills chief executive) marked "private and confidential", explaining the situation. That will get some action.

You need to ask to speak to the Head of Customer Services - don't be fobbed off with anyone less senior.

I had a dispute with Hills over a £200 bet I placed on a US race in one of their shops whereby a trader waited until the horse I backed was clearly beaten before authorising acceptance.

I was fobbed off 3 times before I eventually spoke to the Head of Customer Services who, in fairness, was exceptionally good and apologised for the way I had been treated and refunded my stake.

I'm pretty sure his name was Dave.

In terms of your bet, it is 100% not an antepost bet - I have had dealings with IBAS and even they would rule in your favour on this one. That's how certain it is!!
Report Dr Gonzo February 28, 2012 10:15 AM GMT
Their own T&Cs prove them wrong; in no way can your wager be deemed as ante post, as their T&Cs clearly state. Whatever you do, don't give up on it, because there's no way they'll get away with this with IBAS.
