Usually disputes or makes the running when he wins, today 6lbs higher than his last win he's held up almost last.

That's the way to do it!

Lol.

held up as poor jumper imo and they were going like the clappers upfront
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 4:26 PM GMT
Look at his form, he’s always ridden up with the pace

Why don’t they just put a sign on his saddlecloth saying not off?
Report dgc1 January 31, 2012 4:27 PM GMT
the horse is a classic money muncher. used to go around as fav for nicholls - usually botches a jump or two and then loses interest
Report Deltâ January 31, 2012 4:29 PM GMT
up with the pace when no pace - knock boy lto - fast pace today

Sporting Life comment today

''held up last,''

Your go.

"sold to knackers' yard for 20 quid"
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 4:40 PM GMT
He was definitely ridden with unusual restraint today, in the same value race that he won last time out where he disputed the lead.

In fact he’s only been held up once in  ten races before today’s.
Go back as far as you like, it’s the same story, always ridden up with the pace.

What do you believe if you don’t you believe your own eyes?
Report Deltâ January 31, 2012 4:43 PM GMT
he ended up last from pace and early mistakes, lined up at off to be prominent and kept on the move at the post

opinions hey Dr Crippen, good job, else be no layers or backers

in all seriousness:

"held up last, mixed jumps early, failed to run on from fast pace to suit"
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 4:53 PM GMT
He jumped the first three fences in last place, the commentator described him ''as held up in last place''

I think everybody would say say that he was held up
He kept on and finished fourth.
Report taipan501 January 31, 2012 4:57 PM GMT
usually tactics when a horse is not off, in that they change tactics- usually up with the pace, held up last

usually held up last, up with the pace
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 5:12 PM GMT
I think they call them job horses.

Watch him when they've got his rating back down to the low nineties.

He should be something to bet on then.
Report thisforumisFINNISH January 31, 2012 8:53 PM GMT
If you think a frustrating dodgebag with a history of wind problems is a 'job horse', then good luck to you. He's just not very good.
Report iamajambo January 31, 2012 9:04 PM GMT
I was there. The horse made numerous mistakes which prevented him from getting into the race.Had it 'all to do' under his penalty,in any case.
Report Deltâ January 31, 2012 10:00 PM GMT
finally some sense, tf
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 10:12 PM GMT
He was last over the first three fences being held up - why was he held up if he was running on his merits?

Like I suggested earlier, wait until they get his rating back down and he'll win another.

He clearly wasn't off today.
Report AdrianMole January 31, 2012 10:25 PM GMT
Would have been madness to get involved in the war up front and the winner deserves plenty of credit for keeping on to win well. Watergate just doesn't jump well enough, nor did it jump well when it won.

A small field with an easy lead is what Watergate needs.
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 10:32 PM GMT
He had only been held up once in his last ten runs before today’s race.

you can go back as far as you like he very rarely gets held up.

Are you trying to say that he couldn't go the pace today?

Would have been madness to get involved in the war up front

So the jockeys making the pace were mad, including the jockey who rode the winner?
He was up there all the way.
Report dgc1 January 31, 2012 10:39 PM GMT
the mule's been beaten 10 times as a fav or 2nd fav, and on another occasion at 11/4. all f1xes do you reckon?
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 10:49 PM GMT
Of course they weren't all fixed.
But on how many of those occasions was he held up?

The question remains; why was he held up if he was running on his merits?
Report Dr Crippen January 31, 2012 10:51 PM GMT
It was noticeable on the exchange how his price went out to double figures long before he made his first mistake.

The tactics being employed said it all.
Report Deltâ February 1, 2012 7:05 AM GMT
his price was circa 4.8 on here before his first mistake
Report ilikewavingatbuses February 1, 2012 9:15 AM GMT
he makes mistakes every race so holding him up because of jumping errors is not a feasible excuse.

he always leads or tries to regardless of jumping, make of that what u wish!
