this is not spam.. i just answered a question about proform software.. i didnt realise it was in the general betting section.. i think that this should be on this forum as it is horse racing software.. question was asked did anyone have any opinion on proform software.. heres what i think..

i just did a quick search on proform. reason being i have been using it for the last 10 months. i originally was using it in conjunction with raceform interactive.. however after raceform havent really updated their system or added any new features since i started using it, i decided not to re subscribe this year..

simon at proform has been given 100% in terms of customer service, even logging on to my laptop remotely while i was on a beach in goa and sorting a problem for me.. the guys at raceform were also very helpful . but simon is there answering my questions at 10pm!!!

he has also been very responsive to suggestions of features that i'd like to see added to the software... there have been several major upgrades to the software even in the time that ive used.. he is constantly looking to add features.. i havent even looked at the in running options he has added but im sure i will have a look soon.

so what does it do? well like raceform, it lets you search the database to ask an amazing amount of questions about all of the racing results in uk and the ireland over the last 14 years . not only will it do simple stuff like tell you the %ages of any trainer in say novice, handicap, mares, maiden etc,hurdles/ chases at any track... it can answer questions like what happened to every novice hurdle winner at sandown on its next run... and it can do this QUICKLY.

speed is where it definitely loses raceform interactive... raceform , im afraid is positive stone age in comparison when trying to to queries involve " past results"... proform can do stuff like give you the results of a search like .. what are a trainers results and percentages of using blinkers, but also looking at the possibility of the race before was the first time using blinkers... in reality  blinkers second time around .. this sort of query would take an eternity on raceform... in fact the guys at raceform will tell you to do this sort of stuff 6 months at a time . then add them up individually..

i really liked raceform and used it to make alot of money, but i would have liked to see improvements in the time that i used it and it seemed like it hadnt changed since it had been put together . it all seems quite "clunky".

proform wont cost cost you that much to give it a go.. the minimum amount is about 110 pounds for 8 weeks. if you are serious about this then thats not really that much to try something like proform out.

it is the sort of thing that you have to work at though... like raceform interactive, you have to be able to ask the right questions. it is not there just to spit out the results for you.. if it was that easy , nobody would be making any money

Never used any software in my life but decided to give Proform a chance as had seen some postings from Simon on Twitter.  I like sire stat's for certain races and newcomer's on the flat, this was the reason I decided to give it ago.

First of all after installing I was lost finding my way about the software and didn't know how to get the results I was looking for.  Within minutes of me pressing the help button Simon dialed in for a live demo.  Having previously worked in IT the remote software he was using was secure.  The demo was excellent and I now use the software on a daily basis to go alongside my visual reports and own notes on horses.

I would recommend anybody interested to give this software a trial.  Like anything the more work you put into it the more you can get out of it.  I just wish I had more time.

Hi Whippets1,

I respect your opinion that you felt you were hard done by but it looks like proform did try and help you with the problem. Letting them get onto your computer to see where the problem is , is just part and parcel of getting problems fixed. I personally am glad that I let them do it. I am reasonably computer literate and I sat watching every step that they did to fix the problem that I had on mines, so that I could fix the problem the next time, should it go wrong again... When they log onto your computer remotely, you can see every step that they make.

They are database experts and they went to places on my computer that you or I would never know existed. Some things are just far too complicated for a list of instructions. For something you actually have to have a degree in computer language to sort things out and proform have this expertese. I couldnt have possibly done what it took them 20 minutes to do..

If you thought it was good for you before and just didnt want to let them help you out by logging on and personally fixing it, then i actually feel sorry for you because I genuinely feel you are missing out. They were probably very genuinely offering excellent customer service and maybe felt a bit miffed that you wouldnt let them help. There may be a bit of blame on both sides of your fall out. That really was up to you both of you to sort a bit of business out amicably. It happens to the best of people . Alot of the time its simply not intentional on the part of either party.. People are people and sometimes **** happens. we move on..

I am going to put the reply to what someone asked in the general betting forum as what the software actually does on in a next post on here.
Report obratzov1 January 18, 2012 11:45 AM GMT
cost is 11.75 to 13.75 pounds per week depending on length of subscription. minimum 8 weeks.

i will go through as many variables as possible.

date .. any combination of years or months from 1997...

horse..name, age , finishing position, jockey, trainer, sire and dam names, penalty, riders claim, headgear, sex, colour, country , pace variable, plus a few others.

last time out  horse, all of the above

course .. all uk and irish courses... with filters for just uk, or left and right handed courses

lto course all of the above

classification of race.. around 30 different types of races

lto classification... as above..

there are lots of ratings systems variations which i havent even touched

presentation... you can do a search on say nicky henderson novice hurdlers then you could have about 50 different ways of presenting the results... ie by age , course, race class, days since a last run, year, month, etc. course direction, going, etc...

preferences can then let you decide what results you actually see there are many variations.

typically for me it would be a query refering to a certain trainer...

so mines would trainer, runners, winners, % strike rate, average odds, average win odss, roi to bf..

then you double click into that overall summary of the results and you can have the complete set of results race by race , which then you have another whole set of variables to decide upon... ie a column showing all hurdle runs before, all chase runs before... sp, etc.. and each of these columns can be manipulated excel style..

to show lowest sp first etc... to see if the stable wins when the money is down etc..

then of course is my favourite function... if you get a query you like, you save it.

you update the system everyday to put in new results and the next days declarations..

you might have found a certain trainer that is doing well or badly with a certain set of circumstances and if this is one of your saved queries, then then system marks this up on a welcome screen and you wont miss one of your favourite queries if it come up..

there are other functions like.. you pick a race and put in a set of possibilities.. like novice hurdles over course and distance. you can go in and ask it to list the records of all trainers in the race with their record over cd..

it comes out like a small excel file where any ofi  the columns can be manipulated ie strike rate.. in ascending or decending order.

thats about enough.. there is an amazing amount of variable that you can put in or out...

its always at the end of the day up to you to ask the right questions...

like does a certain trainer do especially well with claiming jockeys or even badly..

in a minute, i can have a list of every trainer in the country and arrange them by strike rate...

there are a myriad of possibilities... its just a very good tool for whittling away at some of these questions and then storing the results.

foxy  Obratzov1 is not Simon of proform.  As he says he has used Raceform Interactive previously, and is now using proform.  Personally I would be wary of allowing anyone into my machine.  A good reason can be found with a google of "devilrobber."  but each to their own.

foxy top... the reason that i dont come out and say just him, is because , although i have only dealt with only one person, simon.. when i read the blogs, there are references to we and us... i personally dont know them or have any connection with them or simon.. i am just a subscriber...

i have put alot of effort in other posts to give people the heads up on which bookies would accept certain amounts before knocking them back and have offered strategies to make the most of bog while it is going to last for a successful punter.. its easy to search anyones postings.

i am just another punter who will add a bit of advice every now and again on tools and strategies. you will never see me tipping anything..

i personally would take what anyone says on here with a pinch of salt. i dont think anyone is going to get ahead in this game without being cynical...

so just take what i say with a pinch of salt, but there are those out there who stuff like proform or raceform interactive could help. proform is just a tool that i am using at the minute and i like it.. i consider there is no harm in giving it a punt on here. this is where i found out about raceform interactive after all and thats well documented.

from their blog and twitter i noticed ,http://proformracing.blogspot.com/ , i'm assuming its someone who works there who fancies them based on the systems they are using.

13.45 Southwell
Douglas is overpriced at 25/1, I make him around 9/1.
Lucy Alexander is an interesting booking,
Trainer does well with 5lb+ claimers, also interesting with cheek pieces first time, trainer does well with these too.

Also Cesium, at 10/1 is interesting.  Paddy Brennan back on is interesting.  I make  Cesium around a 9/2 shot so at 10/1 good value

14.05 Newbury
Shernando
1st run after switching to Nicky Henderson and last run was on the flat is 24 from 91 (26.37% SR)
This one was from Mark Johnston Stable, he as had 3 from there 2 won at 4/9 and 8/1
Also couple this with NH record with horses off a break in January which is 21 from 48 (43.75% SR) and when these are coming from a previous flat turf run they are 5 from 6 (83.33% SR)
Solid looking statistics and the 11/4 with Ladbrokes and Corals looks big.

15.10 Newbury
Brixen
Trainer Barry Brennan's overall record is 16 from 243 (6.58% SR)
He is 1 from 49 (2.04% SR) on first run after stable switch.
However he is 5 from 35 (14.29% SR) on 2nd run after stable switch, like today.
Noel Fehily ridden 1 of these 2nd switchers to win and was on Brixen LTO and is on again today.
6/1 is decent price and there should be plenty of opportunity to trade IR with this prominent runner.
Report obratzov1 January 18, 2012 2:51 PM GMT
personally i havent looked at their blog or tips very much.. the last time i did, they tipped two in a 15 runner hcp. i actually was laying both of them using stats that i got using the software.. both were beaten half a mile out..

so i wouldnt judge the software on their tips..

pick them yourself..

the software wont do anything for you itself you have to ask questions and interpret the stats yourself.

what it does do is stuff like its 1510 analysis very quickly.. imagine trawling through all of barry brennans stats to get those answers.

i was looking at laying shernando on other stats i looked at but didnt..
