Boycie is 100% correct the only reason it was 29 crossing the line was because no one had the funds( or brains) to take the 29 if all of that 2 million was took then it would have went 1.01

Yes, it has already been reported to the Gambling Commission but unfortunately they are closed until 3rd Jan (Honestly !!) well it is a really quiet time of year for gambling so fair play to them taking time off when its so quiet |

Exactly ****ss2dear if the rogue bet was for £700,000 at 29.0 it would have all been taken and the horse would have been 1.01 over the last as normal. It is only the volume of the bet that meant some was available at the line.
It is irrelevant to the argument |

I ask a simple question regarding the "obvious error" IR 12.40 Lingfield yesterday.
Booze Angel kicked off with an SP of 2.04 and then traded as high as 80 before going on to win. Why wasn't the race voided? |

Yes, it has already been reported to the Gambling Commission but unfortunately they are closed until 3rd Jan (Honestly !!) They must have looked at last years weather forecast before making that decision |

Maybe Mr Calvin will address each of those points Boycie - very much doubt it though. But he needs a proper grilling

If It's 5-0 with 5 minutes to go and you put in a lay bet of £50 million at 1.01 that'll stay there till every penny is took. So maybe it was someone acting the ball **** and went oh! s*** help!!! quick cancel it...and it wouldn't...rouge bot my arris

Betfair needs to explain at what point the error was meant to be obvious.
If, as some forumites have posted, the error was obvious the moment odds of 29 were offered (the punter in question meaning to offer odds of 2.9) this does not stack up because the percentage on the "back" side should have been about 70%. But the percentage was about 102% which is completely consistent with in-play markets as the favourite's and third favourite's prices had shortened accordingly. The fact that other punters posted lay bets of 1,000 at odds of 22 and 60 at odds of 30 also contradict that there was an obvious error at this time. So was the substantial amount available to back the winner the obvious error? Firstly, you don't know when you take the price whether there are 10,000 separate punters or only one punter offering the bet. Secondly, Betfair has all these safeguards in place to ensure punters do not exceed their account balances and exposure limits. So, while there may be an error it is hardly obvious. If this argument is upheld then no-one on Betfair should accept a betting proposition when there is a substantial amount on offer. This is hardly how betting exchanges are supposed to operate is it? So if there was an obvious error it only became an obvious error very late in the race, possibly some time between the winner jumping the last and crossing the line. I think even this is a stretch but it certainly doesn't justify Betfair voiding all in-play bets on the race. |

Theres a bet after been laid at Southwell to lose 336,000. People robbed because other people are watching 5 seconds ahead. Will they be refunded...like eck they will...'tough t!tty now move on', is what you'd be told
Mount McCloud 1000.00 €336 |

As ever when theres a Betfair c0ck up its the customer who suffers, not Betfair. They really do make the rules up as they go along these days.I wonder if i made an obvious error and lay a horse at 100/1 instead of 1.01 as it jumps the last 10 clear will they be willing to void all bets.I DONT FUKKING THINK SO!!!

LOTS OF VERY GOOD POINTS.... this rubbish about fairness or its morally wrong to take these odds because it is clearly a mistake...are you joking? i had $400 today on an in running market..second favourite 4,20. in the second i hit the button it got pulled out the race..... sorry betfair it was a mistake...i have seen horses backed at 1.01 for plenty..have they all won??? just answer me that betfair... so people backed a 29.00 shot at way overs and had their bets matched...where is the problem? i tell you where the problem is...this time you hit the wrong fukking button and you dont want to cough up..its that simple..we all know if this was a problem where everyone says ok its a mistake no one can control we would all know by now....
