Have met Dave Nevison several times. When Wolverhampton was fibresand and there was a massive inside track bias at Lingfield...  he was very good !

Two years ago I believe he stated on national television his income was 71 k.

I love all this talk about people claiming to make good living from purely betting on horses/sports etc etc, then all the comments on here about how no one can ever get a bet on with bookies cos their so successful etc etc. Kind of don't make sense to me, they can either get on or they can't!

Oh by the way i know a very good punter by the way, he has been banned by bookie after bookie after bookie and relies on B£365 in which he is allowed to win only £35 per event per price change or for the bigger events either goes to the course or different shops. Admittedly most of his earnings is poker, but his horse racing and other sports does make up to imo around 25% of his income.

I wont say who it is, ahem gnasher8 tee hee, but he is a legend to me, a very good friend of over 15 years in which neither of us had two pennies to rub together, (i still don't) and yes, i slight jealous streak glides painfully through my back every time i see his bf bank haha!

u dont generally have to be succesful to not be able to get a bet on, its just that alot of firms now dont want the liability, espcially as the margins are tight, and when the market volumes are small, thus its easy to get a bigger bet on bigger events, and nowadays the fobt seem to be of great interest to the staff/managers when going in to shops

Steph,David took the risks because he balanced the odds/chance of succeeding. His missus supported him,his kids have thrived and benefited from his risk taking.

Most of his book might be true but not the David I knew with his school satchel on course.

BTW I made a choice,30 years of maybe dying Mon through Sunday, still here.Gave up 28/01/11 when some SDC from MOD said my currency was not relevant.

He/she never knew me,didnt know I started age 16.Get a grip,dont gamble,invest.Wink

steph, dont miss the point.Running away is not an answer or solution.

The solution is so easy, btw mate i kid you not on my career, from 16 till 28/01/11 all military.Family before me,horses and gambling before me for 4 generations.

I owe no one a single penny, inherited £8.2 million in October, mostly property across Europe, most I have never seen.

The point is,a few of my lot killed themselves because of gambling, they had the means to pay. They convinced themselves it was the right thing to do,to save shame.

Bollox,I have survived similar plus the IRA trying to kill me and my family. The harder they tried the more I rebel,no different now.

If i can help,PM,if it is anything to do with the Provos ditto.

ww 2 of them were buisnessmen who sold up and ended up getting hooked the other was a pure gambler who started with nothing owned 80 horses won the gold cup and done the lot back .....when gamblers win we think it will go on and on like a drug it gets you in the end  i have blown a fortune and won a fortune i would not want to know what my loses are over 10 million maybe more iv e had brilliant times and soul destroying times  the people who end up with the money are the track boys ...bots and arbers ...but they cannot be classed as gamblers  i have played in the big leagues for 3 decades and i wish i had never had a bet  racing nowadays has no characters or very few 15/20 years ago the tracks were alive with them old age and b/fair killed them all
