reckons I could be worth following in another posting...
G.B might not be wrong but ranader is right, judged on my last two lays, posted on here. my MO is to play the place market (both ways) throughout every day and, whenever possible to exploit each-way doubles/trebles, over a period of eleven years it's cost me about TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS! that G.B is how moderate I am, fortunately over a long period it was possible to make racing pay by going to the racecourses but laying (a one-horse book) at home plays into hands of professionals. this amount works out about £50 a week loss which, balanced against 'wages' of about £8000 a month, for a long time, represents sloppy trading. you see ranader is indeed correct, I'm a MUPPET! I trickled a lot of my 'ard earned 'in-running' but recently came to terms with fact that ATR is so far behind the actual running it's more like betting on ESPN sports of yesteryear; in fact players would have been tricked to a colossal degree were it not for the observant posters who continually monitor the gaps. disgraceful really, and unfair. don't follow me George.B, I'm a loser and wouldn't want anyone on here to think otherwise. over here there's no need for a car, just a bike is sufficient; think how much a vehicle would have cost me over the same eleven years period, a bit more than £25000 methinks! point is I'm SHRAC, the initials of Sir Henry Cecil; 'so happy relaxed and contented' playing at the game I loved, doing no harm to anyone. enjoy the day and possibly my silly ramblings because in this game you never know what's being 'whipped up!'
Bruce, ranader will be feeling rather silly now he knows the true extent of your success. £8000 a month 'wages' is just a pipe dream for the vast majority of us on here!
What was your MO in the days when you were on course - paddock watching, spotting the non-jiggers and betting them on the 'right' day?
Reminds me of a piece by David Ashforth when he reminisced about racing in the days before the racing channels came along, and there was just the one opportunity to see a race live on course and once it was finished, that was it, gone forever and never to be seen again - other than in the memories of the people who were there!
Btw, if the horse tips aren't doing too well, have you thought about trying your hand at another sport? There was a 'good Samaritan' on here last year / earlier this year, whose name escapes me, used to put up a few tips for the nags and then from nowhere came up with Adrian Lewis at rewarding odds to win the World Championship Darts. Happy days!

knowing things that no one else knew, until afterwards; 'things' that wouldn't be discussable on a phone, it was called having a cutting edge. paddock watching is subjective, I'd know when wasn't to my liking but others were so-called 'experts' and bet accordingly. seldom do horses look wrong in a paddock and more interesting was watching horses go to post; on several occasions I've tried to get RUK/ATR to have a window for this area only but with little success. for a while it was possible to see them 'going down' on the red button but that's also gone now and, apparently, horses don't always go past the stands anymore; no incentive to go therefore. plenty of information nowadays but not tyhe sort that made me a 'winning machine' for long periods over many years; last 'serious' bet was Pablo in the 'lincoln' when I knew EVERYTHING that needed to be known. funny thing G.B the other day decided to pull myself together becuz with the whip causing nervousness and inconsistency with results this has to be the time to be a layer and, lo and behold, haven't lost for more than a week. incidentally I'm a sucker for putting (nearly!) the whole lot on such as fascinating, it has to hurt this betting, don't you agree? anyway I'm off to play newmarket seriously and have LAYED that 'shortie' FAIZ, I 'know' something see.
