"Silvestre de Sousa closed to within five winners of Paul Hanagan at the top of the jockeys' championship by riding three winners on Wednesday.

De Sousa refuses to concede defeat in the title race and rode two winners at Nottingham's afternoon meeting.

The Brazilian rider struck aboard Style And Panache (12-1) and Kahraba (11-8 favourite) and then travelled to Kempton. Al Aqabah made the journey worthwhile by landing the racing@skysports.com Handicap at 2030.

Hanagan, who tops the charts with 157 victories, was winless from six rides at Musselburgh on Wednesday."

if someone can convince MJ to send somebody else to Aus.
Report treetop • October 26, 2011 11:01 PM BST
Riding his heart out it could be wiser decision for MJ to send Joe Fanning rather than Sylvester who could be knackered as well as jet lagged by the time he's aboard at Flemington !

Step forward some helpful trainers to give Sylvester a few more
rides!! After all Hanagan won it last year....

Any whip bans wont be served until the season is over so that can't influence things now.
