There is no volume on the site just a pathetic robot that lets you match peanuts before adjusting to make it bad value to match any more. They must have lost hundreds of millions down the years yet theyve made no effort to turn things round are they just content to be a failure? If so surely just close the site down. Its been handed on a plate for them with all the charges betfair have now added yet still theyve made no effort. Surely Dermot Desmond is better than this or is he content to have the whool pulled over his eyes by his staff?

I wonder if any company has ever been given a bigger chance to take customers away from it's major rival, than Betfair has given to Betquack. Surely the PC hike and all the other negative effects that flow from it, was the chance Betquack had been waiting for, yet they seem unable or unwilling to take that chance by the balls.

Makes you wonder which company has got the more inept management. Betfair for shooting itself so firmly in both feet over PC AND major site unreliability - or Betquack for not having the brains or business accumen to jump on the opportunity. Maybe running a betting exchange does not require management with any brains. Devil

All fake money matched by their traders and they run a mile the moment you match 1k. Got to feel sorry for Mr Desmond as surely his staff are taking him for a complete ride. Has there ever ever been a more incompetently run company? Do they even care???

Yes, salmon - that was the l ink that I posted -

but it asterisked out.

Looked tonight - and looking at some of the amounts up there on the horses, at varying levels of prices, surprised me.

Report spider1 • October 26, 2011 11:22 PM BST
The only explanation anyone can give is its all so badly run that it must be a tax write off by Mr Desmond!!! Well if it is they are doing a great job theyve been handed it all on a plate through what betfair have got up to in the last few years and theyve made a complete mess of competing
Report salmon spray • October 26, 2011 11:38 PM BST
I have an account with Betquack but there has been nothing in it for two or three years. The reason was basically that their customer service was appalling. They DID NOT reply to e-mails and then tried to prevent me drawing my remaining £80 or so out of my account by asking for quite complex documentation which they hadn`t wanted when I opened the account. I eventually got a phonecall from Dublin which started off friendly enough but when I pointed out that a friend had drawn 100s out without the need for such documentation in the preceding week it turned into a robot repeating " It is company policy " Betfair has its faults but my bad experiences with exchanges were in my very brief flirtation with the quacks.

Betfair is very good at responding to my numerous emails about the failings of the videos. I know the problem with videos is not always that of BF as the bookies who use the same feed have had identical issues.
Unfortunately I do not have to combat the PC so I have nothing to say about that.
I have pulled money out of the purple site with no problem whatsoever.
I might use it more but the number of markets in football is very limited and this is where I might use them.
Report racingguru • October 27, 2011 12:15 AM BST
Purple is one of the moat terribly run companies. BF handed them numerous opportunities to get a decent share of the market but as always they pi55ed it away. The only people that can seriously use it under their new robot prices are PC payers and these people aren't betting for entertainment so hard to see how purple can succeed. Can't they comprehend that need the fish punters and they are gonna stay here where they'll get 4.4 versus 4.2 there.
Report shearer2therestcue • October 27, 2011 12:25 AM BST
ok please someone point me to the error of my ways here -why doesnt one of the big 3-4 bookmaking firms set up their own betting exchange run along similar lines to betfair therefore negating the need for silly online betting sites that just continuously refer you every time you want a decent chunk on -they have far better advertising policies for the fbots/casino/games markets already in place which they could quite easily capitalise on and are only interested in taking a punter on if hes a born loser/he can mark their card/ or they can arb him till their hearts content -how many premium charge accs do you think are owned by the big boys-a high percentage i would venture and thats what the premium charge is all about imho
Report salmon spray • October 27, 2011 12:29 AM BST
I have never worked out why Laddies in particular didn`t do it years ago. They could have afforded to have run it at a loss for a year or two. Too much money in fobts probably.
Report shearer2therestcue • October 27, 2011 12:36 AM BST
yes salmon but they could still run their other operations alongside a betting exchange and im sure from a company point of view even now most every day punters would know of the name Ladbrokes over Betfair -after all they are on almost every high street/main road so they are deffo more high profile -with any sort of business nous they could/would quickly blow this lot away with a bit of aggression i reckon -bf is in a mess with very little respect for its client base and anyone that bought their shares when they came out should have made a killing by selling them straight away Tongue OutTongue OutSurprisedSurprised

racing guru, 4.4 betfair better than 4.2 depends what comm is charged and if backing or laying
Report racingguru • October 27, 2011 9:12 AM BST
Its 2 ticks worse both sides on purple so its immaterial whether backing or laying or commission levels - maybe odds on excepted. I never get lower than 4% here - currently 4.7 and am 2.5 on purple but can't bet there - how can they be so dumb to not see I'd be the obvious person to move if they were competitive.

Report Feck N. Eejit • October 27, 2011 9:45 AM BST
Any offer that's available on betfair can be matched on betd@q if you're willing to take an increment lower (backing) or higher (laying). As your offer is matched on betd@q the offer will disappear on betfair. I suspect it may be people on here churning between sites to avoid pc (they may have a private deal with betd@q) or it may be betd@q themselves. Either way, you've got to put the bet up to get matched and if you do it through their API (trading software is available) you'll eventually end up on 1%. You'll have to work out for yourself if 1% commission and an increment out beats x% commission with up to 60% pc.  I suspect it would in most cases but it certainly does in mine and I'm betting (backing) up to several grand per race. I won't be using betfair again until I'm automated and even then I'll be offering liquidity on betd@q. If more of you people who hanker after "a viable alternative" would follow suit there might just be "a viable alternative". This post will probably get me banned so cut and paste and stick it elsewhere.
Report zebadei • October 27, 2011 9:52 AM BST
I imagine one of the purposes of its existance is so there is an alternative to a monopoly exchange - sadly when this exchange increases its charges, everybody moans but few actually make any effort to make the bdq exchange more liquid.

Because most of us are lazy inert punters,we don't make as much effort as we should spreading wagers between both exchanges, the bf shareholders must love that - the simple question is, if bf was a complete monopoly would you pay more or less in charges.

I'd suggested no matter how small your bets spread your wagers between both exchanges.

'Surely Dermot Desmond is better than this or is he content to have the whool pulled over his eyes by his staff? '

Mr Desmond took his ball home soon enough where The Sportsman was concerned, so i doubt anyone's pulling the wool over his eyes.

the idea that Betdack dont want to take on Bfair and the idea that the big 4 bookies havent seriously looked into the possibility of an exchange are both a bit silly imo, but from an early stage Bfair has had an almost monopoly share of the market and liquidity and it would take a massive investment in terms of advertising/IT etc to try to overhaul them. The fact there would have to be a doubt re. to what extent 2 profitable exchanges could co-exist would also be offputting.

Just in case I gave the wrong idea, you'll probably still get matched if you request the betfair odds but you won't get the same near instantaneous response.

You dont match eff all on betquack lets be serious. Its all fake money matched by their traders. The moment they match a grand they retreat a mile and meke it hard for you to match any more. To anyone with a brain its crystal clear what goes on. I think everyone is desperate for a some competition between exchanges but it seems the only people that arent are betquack themselves.
Report Feck N. Eejit • October 27, 2011 12:10 PM BST
You're talking sh1te spider. A grand at what? Take an increment lower than what's available on betfair if you're in a hurry.
Report spider1 • October 27, 2011 1:11 PM BST
lol im not mate ive tried it for 3 months and its a joke

if its 5.2 on betfair and you ask for 5.1 youll match 1k then thats it. trust me feck no one needs betdack to work more than me but sadly it doesnt
Report Feck N. Eejit • October 27, 2011 1:15 PM BST
Even if true spider, 1K on your average 5.1'er would be good enough for 99.9% of betfair users.
Report Feck N. Eejit • October 27, 2011 1:17 PM BST
I recently had 2.5K on a 7.6 winner. Was a drifter right enough. If your horse is shortening you won't have time to get anything decent on but that applies to betfair as well. Both sites are victims of their half-witted interface.
