Although I am going home on Thursday I will be coming back to attend a parade on the 11th of November.

Never since WW2 has support of our troops been so dependent on the money generated by the poppy appeal. Not just for the troops themselves but also for families and dependents.

I thought perhaps we could call on Betfair to put up a thread inviting forumites to place a bet of £2 on a horse running between the 1st and 11th of Nov inclusive.

All winnings to be taken from accounts immediately after any winning selection and all winnings passed on to the British Legion. As well as administering the bets I would suggest BF could match every £2 loss with a donation of £2.

No limit on how many bets a forumite can have in the period suggested.

Would you support such a scheme?

fat dodgy, well said I know you're not everyone's mug of tetley on here but that's a goof point.  A better & long lasting solution as fd says is to put pressure on the government to look after relatives of badly injured & dead servicemen & their relatives. _

They then might also then think twice before being involved in so many wars.

Get a petition together & everyone would sign it, they'd have to do something then

She was on the local TV and got quite a few people to sign but her petition is not getting the signatures it deserves.

Report sean rua • October 26, 2011 11:12 AM BST
It is, indeed, a poor thread, but that's probably par for the course ( btfr forum).
Some interesting points, however, which are also, off topic:

Italy is key to survival of the Eurozone. If, and this is likely, she defaults, the consequences for all in Europe will be dire. Greece is less important, and just a decoy really, to distract folk from the poor showing of Bellesconi. Italy is the keystone that is likely to collapse.Sad

Second point:
Can we assume that this rscb is a Scottish Italian? It would appear that he's ex-british army.
Given that the special air service is a predominantly catholic organisation ( as is the french foreign legion), I'm wondering why he was not a member.

Of course, I know nothing about him, except for what we read from him on this forum.
It's all very strange, imo.

Once again, we are wasting space on the racing forum, so my apologies for being one of the culprits. Blush
