Patrick Mathers, the rider of the winner, VALANTINO OYSTER (IRE), inside the final two furlongs. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. As the offence warranted a suspension at the upper level, the Stewards suspended Mathers for 7 days as follows: Wednesday 9 – Saturday 12 and Monday 14 – Wednesday 16 November inclusive. Under Schedule (D)6 the rider shall not be entitled to a percentage of any prize money.
There seems to be a few jockeys getting banned who actually 'won' the race, it seems more profitable to win and get suspended...Tho i thought they where taking away the jocks percentage

Anyone know, is an amount of money, equal to the jockey's % held back by Wetherby's or is it up to the owners not to pay the jockey the % ? If the former, then where does that money go, if he latter how can the BHA know if the owner pays the jockey? Surely they don't have access tto jockey and owners' bank accounts do they?

What happens if the jockey is living with the trainer and the trainer is on the cold list.
Pat Mathers may miss 2 rides if he is really busy during the time of his suspension.
You could not make it up.

roggrain That is not the case.Once given a smack the horse closed all the way to the line. Fallon got off it and thought if he had given a couple more smacks it would have won. He was way too slow to pick the stick up

I doesn't matter how many slaps Fallon gave the horse because if the jockey on the winner can still break the rules and win and keep the race then that's where the rule is wrong.
If this had been one of the first races where the jockey lost his fee and prize money in a small race instead of how much Soumillon lost then there wouldn't have been half as much fusee. Until they throw horses out when the jockey breaks the rules (and he'd lose the winners share of prize money anyway) jockeys will still always break them and take their punishment.
I counted 10 slaps from Mathers with 2-3 in rapid rat-a-tat style right at the death and it was the difference between winning and losing and so he's obviously profited from breaking the rules, so to just ban him but let the result stand is like a footballer scoring a goal with his hand and the referee sends him off but lets the goal stand......it's a total contradiction.
