A nicely typed letter from the PJA stating their members had no confidence in the Governing body would be rather apt though..

Surely though they have to hold an official ballot under the Thatcher laws brought in like the average worker does or the strike will be considered unlawful.

Apparently this involves the PJA giving 7 days' notice of strike action to employers stating that they intend to hold a ballot, the date on which they believe the ballot will take place and any other information which will help the employers make any plans. They must also give the employers a sample voting paper at least 3 days before the ballot. If the jockeys vote in favour of strike action, it must begin within 4 weeks of the ballot taking place.

Who would have though the racing industry would ever be so militant eh? Silly

The jockeys should approach a new union. Bob Crow and THE RMT would be best, because with all the discussions about how many times
you can strike a horse...........Bob would know more than anybody about strikes.

Report bruce4syth • October 24, 2011 12:38 PM BST
define a troubleshooter!
that's what is needed, to go into the BHA and sort out its personnel.
as for an australian making decisions about jumping, it's laughable becuz they have banned jumping in OZ and when there more than 30 years ago noticed that punters hated it, preferring trotting. that's how ludicrous this situation is.

I would have thought jockeys were self-employed business people. Some will have contracts/retainers which they might have legal problems avoiding but they don`t have to accept " outside " rides. Never have.
