No.
When Fallon was barred by the High Court from riding Recital in this year's Derby, the cry from Ballydoyle was not, "send for Hughes". Hughes does not have the right experience at the top level. Most of his Group One wins, reflecting the Hannon stable, have been on sprinters or milers. He has never won a Derby, for instance, whether Epsom, Irish or French. Don't forget that what Ballydoyle needs, and more particularly what Coolmore needs, is a jockey who, when he says that Flying Dancer is the best he has ridden or a better than average Classic winner, will be believed. For that, the jockey needs to have been there, done that, and bought the tee-shirt. Hughes is bare-chested. What Ballydoyle needs is Frankie Dettori but if they cannot tempt Moore from Stoute, they haven't a prayer of getting Frankie away from Godolphin. Jamie Spencer's assault and battery on Cape Blanco might have been intended as a job application for the retainer, to prove to Ballydoyle that he can now operate at the highest level. If so, it will have backfired, making him seem hot-headed rather than determined. Spencer is, in my view, the finest illustration of why jockeys should employ coaches, but that is a rant for another day. He could be a world-class pilot with more feedback on his weaknesses. The best young jockeys are based in France, and presumably out of reach. Perhaps the best plan is to address Murtagh's concerns.

William Buick has won a King George and two St Legers. There's a thought.

I reckon Billy Buick will replace Frankie when the great man calls it a day.

Too inexpierenced for them.

I thought Hughes was on record saying he would be hanging up the boots in the next few years due to the pressures on his body last place he would going is Ballydoyle imo. He would be throwing his sanity into the pressure equation then

Look at all the jockeys anm what age they were when they became no.1 at Coolmore all well expierenced and ridden winners all over the world, i think Spencer was the youngest..I don't think they will go down the youthful road. Roche, Edderey, Kinane, Piggot Mickey Joe, Murtaght all well experienced. Tho maybe down the line Buick but not for a few years yet.

Moore = stays clear of the media, keeps the mouth shut, no family or friends here to tell inside stories like a certain Jockey and Babs Keating :p. Lot of ticks for their way of working, a perfect jockey for them.

I think I know Richard well enough and believe the idea is very unlikely.
He's fitted in well with the Hannon family and Dessie is not retiring age by a long way yet. I'm not sure he'd want to return to Ireland long term anyway.Hannon's yard is huge and maybe a combo of Hughes,Hannon jr and Kirk will handle the 2/3 hundred horses when the old man quits.

Richard Hills. Obvious imo.

JMC would agree with you re Moore and why Coolmore would prefer someone like him.

How could they have Fallon Back??? Who wants to sign Fallon next year after what he did at Epsom?
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
By:
A lot depends on whether Joseph can keep his weight to 9st for another season surely. If so one imagines he will keep the ride on Camelot for innstance. There`s also the Spencer tie-up with at least one owner complicating things.
But I agree I can`t see Hughes going. They won`t trust Fallon again and anyway he`s not the rider he was. Moore or the same as before I think unless one of the top Americans fancies it.

Doesn't matter who rides 'em . Only issues are logistics and personal compatibility .

stop the races , get murtagh back in the saddle ,, lower your sights slightly , and realise jocks need a home life , a place to gather themselves to gether ,,relax , show me a jockey happy with his lot at the moment .he is still the man for your big occasion t / shirt and all . looks pretty miserable this season , even a 5 day week should be compulsory ,more so , job being made harder ,to get round the course will sap more energy than ever .................... whole industry is suffering .many super young jockeys on the way up ,some still claiming allowance ?? apprentices need ever help they can get to succeed .never found going back to a previous job worked for me ,, but would not rule out , it may work for johnny murtagh , wish him well if he is considered and can work a plan for a great future in his later years a great chance if.?? it comes up ..................

Why is it relevant as to whether Richard Hughes has won a Derby or not, even though he has actually won 3 overseas ones?
OK fair enough they were the Italian, Indian (twice) and Bangalore ones and also the Indian Oaks (twice), plus he's won big international races at or around 1½ mile on horses like Youmzain, Passage of Time and Posidonas and even races like the Prix du Cadran over 2½ miles, but the suggestion seemed to be that it was relevant regarding the trip. What is it that was supposed to have happened that once his horse goes more than a mile that Hughes can't win on it? I'm making no judgement either way as to whether he should take the O'Brien job or not if offered but as far as the strain on his body is concerned, the vast majority of races Ballydoyle compete for are non-handicaps where the horses carry weights in the high 8 stone mark to 9 stone and above and that might allow him to put on a few pounds and not starve himself as much as he does now.

the Italian Derby was for Loder....it was worth more that year than our Derby.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

By:
ima_mazed66, it matters that Richard Hughes has not won a Derby (or Arc or King George) because Coolmore needs someone who can stand in the winners circle at Epsom and announce to the mare owners of the world that Flying Dancer is a better Derby winner than, well, who exactly could Hughes compare him to? The Italian Derby is not even a Group One.
It is all about the bloodstock market.
