could last all next week; fierce confrontation(s) already this morning means racing is definitely threatened, darley's position could be untenable later today and, quite frankly, the game is in a real mess, a la my post earlier.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news and so enjoy your weekend racing...!

latest suggests STIER is unpopular, was 'talking down' to kevin and representatives; not prepared to negotiate flexibly and comes across as THE MAN when in fact BHA is a committee. I'll bet he's replaced, very soon; dictators aren't good in democracy!

Didn't Darley say on the morning line there will def be no strike next week (?)

This has turned into a right mess, jocks need someone with more power of influence than Darley.

Agree about Alastair Down being a 'company' man. Reckons jockeys should accept the BHA olive branch as if this hides the fact that the BHA has been seen to be totally inept in running itself.

Alastair, you might think it makes for a quiet life just to fudge the issue but there is a greater principle at stake here than just the whip issue.

Firstly, the BHA is not only incompetent but in many ways professionally negligent in the way it has governed racing in recent times. If it were a private company, its shares would have fallen through the roof, its whole management structure would be shown the door and I daresay a predator would be in the wings ready to asset strip. Sadly, the assets are falling in value on a daily basis.

Secondly, the patronising and condescending attitude towards jockeys is indicative of the style of leadership attitude displayed towards punters. Note to Paul Roy: If you continue to bite the hand that feeds you, eventually you are going to find yourself very hungry and this is evident in a slow but increasing trickle away from betting on horse racing.

Finally, for the reputation of the BHA to be restored there needs to be a complete lock, stock and barrel review of its mission statement. The arrogance and furtiveness must be the first obstacles to be removed. We, the public, want honesty, openness and complete transparency. Whatever the cost.

Well said LL.

As Kieron Fallon pointed out last week jockeys are still treated with disdain and suspicion by racings authorities, just like punters. Perhaps it is a class thing still, but the BHA have now put the interests of the non-racing public, animal welfare organisations, owners (whose horses will not be disqualified), and bookmakers (who will benefit from the strange results) ahead of those of jockeys, most of whom only scape by to make a living, and punters who will lose their hard earned because of the wrong horses winning.
