Had loads of 'Boiler House' type calls and similar, over the years - but this was the fastest, most blatant, 'straight in there' personal details call yet. -----------------------------------------
"Good afternoon, sir - My name is Alex (Indian sounding voice, of course) - I'm not trying to sell you anything."
My Reply: - You won't manage that, anyway.
Alex: - How do you view your television pictures? Is it by Satellite, Freeview, etc
My Reply: - I watch next-door's
Alex: - Are you married?
My Reply: - Why do you think I go next-door to watch the telly?
Then - 3rd and 4th questions in
Alex: - Are you employed, unemployed, recently redundant?
My Reply: - Too busy to work - due to watching the telly all day.
Alex: - How old are you?
My Reply: - A hundred and three.
Alex: - Do you have a bank account?
My Reply: - Bugger Off ----------------------
There must be numbskulls out there who answers these unsolicited calls truthfully.
It's a new ploy. They ring up and ask you what brand of TV and where did you buy it. The first one stopped there.
I thought it was strange and awaited the insurance cover forms (none arrived)
Next call was same but also said Not Selling Anything, and after a few easy questions "Where you misold an insurance policy"
It's a B****y nuisance
Rarely answer the telephone, except when wife is out...
These Indian callers are killing off the landline
TPR is no help because if you try again to stop calls it says you are already registered.

Yes, I've had that one about the brand of Tv and where you bought it from - then they started asking about loans and PPI, so told them it had nothing to do with the brand on TV I watch, so they could go f**k themselves!

I suppose if we needed a job and that one was the only one available a few would take. At the end of the day the poor clown on the other end is only trying to earn a crust as are many of us even though the calls annoy the hell out of us.

Vast majority of these calls are from abroad, via Skype, I have read. They all begin 00 - then a myriad of numbers ---- or, of course, Withheld number.
Often googled the numbers, out of curiosity - and you get loads of other people having posted the same, or similar, numbers - also posting the same script that they have used.

I joined TPS and it cut out most of the unsolicited calls. That said ,there are still enough so I leave the phone unplugged from the wall and just plug it in to check messages and I can get back to the caller, or not. Dialled 1471 after a 2 second 'blank'/person breathing message yesterday. The caller's number was apparently 01234 567890

I got a call last week that WAS, unusually, from a UK dialling code - and had not, of course, been withheld.
When I checked the Dialling Code - a kosher looking one, at that - it turns out that the dialling code was now, "Unused," ... - The Exchange that the dialling code previously referred to, having been merged with another Exchange/code 6 years ago.
How on earth are they managing to use that OLD code, then?

Ive had two calls recently, either bangladesh or indian callers with a time lag on their voice, who both said they work for microsoft live security. They rang because of a virus on my machine that they had been made aware of(roffle I know) For them to fix it I had to give them my bank details and go to a website for them to connect to my machine and fix it that way. I strung both of these tossspots along for ages by appearing very green, if any of you get this call have some fun with them, they get really nasty in the end, great sport to be had. £200 the first guy wanted, I think £250 the second. Hate to think what these barstaff would have put on my machine.

You would be surprised onlooker, apparently a well known forumite lied and said he was employed.Does full time dancing on the Forum count as employment?
