What a fantastic ride by Tom Molloy - without his use of the whip it would not have won. Did he harm the horse? No - but he will get at least 5 days for that. What a joke.

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Tom Molloy, the rider of the winner, RORY BOY (USA), from half way down the back straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. As the offence warranted a suspension at the upper level, the Stewards suspended Molloy for 7 days as follows: Tuesday 1, Wednesday 2, Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 5, Sunday 6 and Monday 7 November. Under Schedule (D)6 the rider shall not be entitled to a riding fee or a percentage of any prize money.

Yes a joke

He should be applauded for his ride not banned.

hi watchit - I wouldn't know where he is coming from as I blocked him yesterday. I gave him the opportunity to apologise but it wasn't forthcoming. Can't stand people that use insults while hiding behind the safety of their keyboard so I decided if I can't see the creeps words there would be no need to react - EVER. It's marvellous taking somebody out of a conversation altogether.

Winners are not applauded by the BHA imo

As some people seem to think gamblers of horse racing do not matter............

They applaud 100/1 winners of the GN...

If bilbobaggins is right that Molloy only won by cheating, then Rory Boy should have been disqualified.

11KV may be right about the BHA's disregard of "gamblers of horse racing" but it really is not clear why backers of Rory Boy, who started at 7/2, deserve more consideration than supporters of the runner-up, Morestead, whose SP was 3/1.

The problem is Ramruma that the jockey of Morestead could have done just the same as Tom Molloy and it might have made a difference though I doubt it as Morestead is a front runner and tires - never needs stoking up to lead. Rory Boy is just a lazy horse that needs encouragement to run it's race. However without that encouragement it will always have no chance. With the new rules it's nothing more than horsemeat. Is this the sort of sanitised racing we want where horses that only go on the bridle are the only ones allowed to race. I don't think so.
