I thought I'd get a better response from the horse racing board, but feel free to mention any at particular sports also.

Report ohsorisky • October 18, 2011 12:10 AM BST

If you go to Cheltenham, Gregory Hughes on the top pitch on the rails used to have an opinion and take it on the chin.  Dunno if that's still the case.
Stephen Little was similar, who never seemed to flinch at whatever "bags of sand" was thrown at him.

revedesivola: The late & great Freddie Williams  was indeed a gent, with balls of steel.
Report rscaughtboy • October 18, 2011 1:26 AM BST
Best of all in my lifetime was Freddie as has already been said, big Garry Wiltshire when he was laying his own.

A fair few more but not in the last few years, the two mentioned were shrewd and behaved like true gentlemen.

Worst ever was a guy called John Noonan and his offspring.imo

Theressomepratonhere sounds like a real knobb, where do you bet in Cheltenham?,if you are so clever at the game why didnt you buy no 1 when it was available to buy ?.How much did you ever win off Freddie williams and his water factory?,and how much did Wiltshire and Little lose to you?
Report corbiewood • October 18, 2011 3:18 PM BST
.How much did you ever win off Freddie williams and his water factory

everyone won of FW, he done it in year on year.

the real question you should be asking is how he got that water bottling factory in the first place.

mincer sweetheart one of the reasons i did not buy pick 1 at cheltenham is because i dont and have never had a permit i believe you need one to be a bookmaker however i do spend a lot of time racing and know a lot of bookmakers both from the uk and ireland and i can assure you there are many who could run rings around those i mentioned perhaps you like to belive in the tripe you hear and read maybe you should try to get out a little who knows you might learn something
Report mincer11 • October 18, 2011 5:49 PM BST
So you are a qualified judge of bookmakers because you go racing every now and then, and obviously as you know a few of them then better again. The many who could rings around them as you describe them are who exactly?
Report theressomepratsonhere • October 18, 2011 6:03 PM BST
i go racing more than now and then and i would not dream of educating somebody like you who has his mind made up also i respect the books who go about there daily operation without making a song and dance about things and will not post there names on a forum where people like you who seldom leave the house can see who they are in fairness to sl i did have an account with him and always found him good to deal with one of your idles however refused me more bets than he laid me
Report theressomepratsonhere • October 18, 2011 6:06 PM BST

Report theressomepratsonhere • October 19, 2011 8:46 AM BST
fat dodgy the point i am making about the water factory or about any bookmakers who have big outside operations bringing them plenty of money is that its easier for them on the bad days so there is less pressure on them when making decisions to an extent they dont have to get it right
Report cooperman • October 19, 2011 10:46 AM BST
Bookies with an opinion are like unicorns. They do not exist FACT.
