The vast majority in racing do NOT agree with your INSULAR opinions, and AGENDA - There's absolutely no place for insular opinions and agendas in 'racing'!

Watched him on "coach trip" tyhe other evening. It was just as he withrew the biggest bogey from his nose and he ate it !! He is the most disgusting thing ever to appear on TV im o

Chap went to Harrow.
Explains it all. |
By:
why haven't the various racing channels he pedals his dirt for realise he is a massive own goal.He is a dinosaur and for mine has no place in modern broadcasting. He has done very well out of the game and his self promotion has no peers. However the time has come to say bye bye. If he in any way reflects a face or facet of modern horseracing then the sport will not grab any fresh young blood as followers or addicts.

When you think of the respectable people that we have had on TV for this sport.
Sir Peter Julian Wilson Brough Scott Ian Carnaby We also have some great people that we could turn to surely head of communications should come on and say in no way does Mac represent British racing today. |
By:
Insular and agendas - he's the living embodiment of British racing ffs.

I dont dislike the man, even though as everybody knows, he is the biggest hypocrite in racing.
By:
Steamship - If Salmon can't have Mac on the basis that he went to Harrow you can't have Julian Wilson as he's an Old Harrovian too (Mac was his f a g I believe)
By:
Don't forget he's failed at every 'job' he's done gerry - the man's a shoe in for the bha board shirley?

By:
He'd slot in seamlessly! He's pretty successful at whatever it is he does now though.

this thread typical of racing people - lets not talk to someone who as a different view to us,and worst than that he dares voicing it,racings from a world of masters and servants and no one speaks out - you do as you are told.if your opinion is the best one/right one then it should be able to withstand as much critism as possible, cant people want no whips, but still be included
By:
That's true - getting paid for being an obnoxious oaf is a living i s'pose.......
By:
so the whips just an excuse to get rid of someone you hate anyway, well at least be honest about it,rather than highjacking the whip issue to turn people against him.
By:
Comingupthehill, surely you must have realised that it is hard to respect people that want to foist their opinion on you without having the knowledge to know they are correct. If you are unsure about the facts on any topic you should keep your opinion to yourself,as you are not speaking in a correct way, just assuming. It's always the cold hard facts that count, not perception, not distorted views, but true knowledge on your topic.
When you are in a position of knowing what you are on about you get respect, when you don't know you get pulled up and, possibly, abuse. |
By:
unbiased - opinions don't have to be correct and just because they don't chime with your own views doesn't make them incorrect either.
By:
Soz coming but i couldn't care less about his views on the whip as he merely says what he believes is the populist view of the time - which makes his support for hare coursing all the more surprising........

i keep the free speech with the abuse,
its a good idea yours, people without degrees shouldnt be able to vote,or have children,it may annoy you that someone speaks out ,1)is opposing your position,2)you think i ve come to my conclusion because i m thick. the problem ,big business, bookies, the government do this all the time, they like me deliberately act thick(crafty daft),so they make a point ,but secretly they want to make that same point ,but for more sinster reasons. you could try stating your case and have good reasoning behind your position ,so that us plebs can understand, or choose the hitler route and silence your critics. |

"... just as he withrew the biggest bogey from his nose and he ate it !! He is the most disgusting thing ever to appear on TV."
If you want to see something even more disgusting, Google in 'John Mccririck s-e-x tape education' just make sure you've got a bucket or something to be sick in ! ![]() ![]() |

By:
Comingupthe hill, you appear to have completely missed the pont.Intelligence, degrees, qualifications etc. don't enter into,it's knowing what you are banging on about, not your own personal views but facts. That is what it is all about.Facts, pure and simple, not personal views.
If in doubt ,say nowt!! |

Completely agree with you comingupthehill, you should have been here yesterday. I dared to put across the other side of the argument and was set upon as a nutter ! I am still stunned so many here are pro wanting to hit a horse umpteen times despite all the press coverage about the whip doesn't hurt or do anything. If it doesn't hurt (absolute balls if you ask me)what's the jockey's big problem?
Imagine if you got up one day, felt a bit crap as many of us can, going out for a run and having something on our backs hitting us with a stick to make us keep going despite being knackered! We wouldn't be too chuffed, can't imagine a horse thinks it's great after trying their hardest. What I took from yesterday was that too many people are stuck in their ways and can't handle change. They don't like the fact that they won't see driving finishes where whips are being used excessively, despite us all being told they don't actually hurt. I think this has a lot to do with people's habits not the rule changes as such. I don't know what the answer is, perhaps a total of seven in the last furlong is correct, the prize money take away does seem excessive, but what happens if someone wins a big race breaking the rules while another jockey doesn't, where is fairness then. The runner-up is basically losing his chance of a big pot while the other takes the prestige of winning a big race, even if it means losing his money. No matter what the rules are, Group 1s are always going to be a source of such bans because I can't imagine that Tom Queally wouldn't have used more than his allowance in a driving finish if it meant Frankel's unbeaten career remained intact. The horse's stud value and place in history would be more important than staying within the rules on the day. You don't need to be a horse welfare supporter to work out that a lot of the hype surrounding the whole issue is that plenty of people can't handle change. We've all seen jockeys over the years still win a race when dropping their whip in the final stages of a race, and we lorded them as amazing rides. Make it a rule and everyone goes nuts. |
By:
I'm still looking forward to the public cottoning on that the jockey's big problem is they want to hit a horse more, I am sure that will go down well with people who know nothing about racing.
By:
Another typical pro-whip thread just slagging someone with a different view. As I said on the other recent thread I don't like him either but I happen to concur with most of his thoughts on this subject.
If he wasn't on the screens who else is offering the remotest bit of balance to the argument. That's right - nobody because RUK and ATR have produced nothing but pro-whip propaganda from the outset. Are they not foisting unsubstantiated opinions? |
By:
Unbiased, can i ask how you got your name?

"I dared to put across the other side of the argument and was set upon as a nutter ! I am still stunned so many here are pro wanting to hit a horse umpteen times"
No, you were 'set upon' because, exactly like that above, you constantly misrepresented the position of others. |
By:
And I can't believe there are people on here claiming the criticism of McCririck is simply because of his opinion on the whip!
By:
celtic, the real facts wont come out,its like i previouly posted ,theres private agendas and resons why they want to keep the old rules, and your jumoped on ,as they are deliberately on here to make sure their view and only their view gets listened to,it was so much easier when they owned the press/t.v,now this dam internet is allowing us peasants to dare voice our opinions, and unless you ve raced as a jockey you cant have a view.but surely everything jockeys do is so people will come and watch them, without an audience they ve got nothing ,and if the audience want less whips - then the jockeys have to do what the audience want ,telling the audience your all idiots and we no better ,so stay out of it isnt going to wash- frustrating for the people who are used to doing what they want, and never getting questioned about it,but if you want their money - youve got to dance to their tune,
By:
Celtic- have you ever sat on a horse? I have no problem tweaking the whip a little, yes Kieran Fox hitting 11 times is crazy, but if the rule was 7 hits anytime in the race ok, I don't agree but ok. It's the way it has been implemented with the penalties. Paul Roy needs questioning over many things while he has been in charge of the BHA and yet, they treat the jockeys like naughty children. Answer this Celtic what happens if 2 horses are killed in the National this season, where do we go then? To use those that are against this rule as whip happy people is wrong.

All well and good, Celtic ...
But - the issue here IS - McCririck being both seen by, and presented to, the General Public as the REPRESENTATIVE of RACING. The Public see him as how he is portrayed by the TV NEWS channels - 'phone for a quote' Radio5Live - Talksport, et al. They think and ASSUME he is the 'All knowing EXPERT' on ALL things Horse Racing - and, consequently believe whatever emotive outburst he spouts forth with. Sadly - for RACING - that same General Public ALSO see him being obnoxious on Big Brother - Celebrity Wife-Swap - dressed only in his underpants, once, I believe, on some other non-descript afternoon 'show ... and now COACH TRIP. How does that reflect on RACING? His TWO Persona are NOT compatible ... Certainly NOT to RACING'S benefit. |

By:
Steamship - have you ever run three miles across a boggy field carrying a proportion of your own body weight whilst simultaneously being 'encouraged' to give a little more by someone with a soft stick? I thought not so, using your own logic, you cannot venture an opinion.
By:
So the public's perception of Big Mac is important, but it's perception of whipping a horse isn't?
By:
I don't have a problem with McCririck giving his opinion on the whip to the general public - the problem I have is that it's the ONLY viewpoint put across to the public - and he paints a cruel picture, claiming that horses of being "beaten".
And the alternative viewpoint that the whip has been modified and is air-cushioned; there is scientific evidence to show there is no welfare issue with the whip; there is a penalty structure in place for jockeys who transgress the rules; and the whip is necessary for safety and encouragement (imo), is not being broadcast to given a balanced argument on the whip. |
By:
agree steamship - dont know why they didnt just say after national we will look into it,then 6 months later when its all died down - report back whip is ok,politicans front it ,look at fox, they just need to pretend they re all bothered ,but then kick it into long grass.
By:
This scientific evidence keeps being mentioned but no one has said what it is? Could it possibly be because there isn't any?
