Makfi won the Guineas at 33-1 and the Tote paid 12-1. Today Cirrus Des Aigles returned 12-1 but paid 9-2 win and 1-3 place. Made the difference between a break even day and a nice profit. Does all the Pari- Mutuel money in France get channelled into the pot?

Fairly sure it doesn't.

PMU have an arrangement with tote whereby they bet into selected races in UK, mostly Group races but also most evening meetings at Windsor, for example. The first 5 at Ascot today were part of the programme on the PMU, so they will have been linked into the totepool. PMU has a similar arrangement with the tote in Ireland.

Serious question, when the tote display their odds/payout before the race does this already include the deductions ???

You can find out when the P.M.U. is offering betting in France on British races by going to www.pmu.fr
I got stung on the Makfi win. That was the first time the pools were co-mingled.
It can also work the other way of course,so it's worth checking even if playing non-French runners.

Ibrahima.  Totepool displays show the current payout after deductions
