they're seething... Greatest horses in the world running there and more went to watch Stoke V Fulham
Ascot were "thrilled" with an attendance of 26,749 for the inaugural QIPCO Champions Day on Saturday.
The meeting was blessed with warm autumnal sunshine and a series of brilliant performances on the track and Charles Barnett, Ascot's Chief Executive, said: "We're really thrilled with the crowd for our first year.
"There has been a great buzz and we've had a really good, supportive racing audience who have enjoyed the day.
"QIPCO has made it possible anad they have been behind the event all the way. It makes an enormous difference working with a sponsor that is so involved and supportive.
How many of those were 'freebies'? Blunderbuss Cattermole said on ATR he shook hands with several people prior to racing and none of them knew a horse called Frankel was running at Ascot today. I bet Paul Roy had a box there today and just sat there saying to his guests, 'look at me and what I've created' (whilst consuming another bucket of gravy)...
