I had a puppy and tried to train it to use a lead. But it kept pulling and pulling, the whites of his eyes showing as he pulled me along. Then I noticed his eyes were bloodshot, again from him pulling on the lead. Eventually after a few months he calmed down somewhat but still pulled, enough for me to have to yank him back every 10 steps or so. Every time I did this he made a little "hard to breath" noise. Only for a split second, but then he relaxed and then when got his breath back pulled again.

Now would you say that is cruel? On the face of it yes. I would hurt him pulling him back, but he kept doing it and still does. Do I need to be reported to the RSPCA over it? How would you compare me, 5 x bigger than the dog and yanking it by a noose around the neck, compared to a jockey on a horse with no more than a noise maker?

Opinions welcome.

You could try chopping his nuts off.

If he still pulls, you could make him jump fences - but if your hair gets messed up when he drags you through one, put him in a claimer.

If it's no more than a noise maker, why all the fuss about not being able to use it?
