You should have known the rules. You broke the rules - end of story unless you want to waste legal fees.

That is what RUK should have told him but of course the rabble rousers didn't instead just encouraging the clown.

lawyers in clover over the next few days..RULES will be changed as they would be unlikely to win or even defend them at the Euro Court...

Could be a case in Europe but I think it would be more for losing the riding fee, bit of a grey area one that if challenged.

Yes, well said Bob - pro-whip stereotype I presume? This forum must be honoured if your previous 1,390 posts were as good as that one.

50 large + loss of a further 5 days income, plus possibly missing out on the prestige of being Champion Jockey in France. All because of 1 extra strike with an air-cushioned whip.

Thank god for Britsh Justice, imo.

And a knighthood for murder.

Remember the Jockey Club/BHA took a torpedo from the EU courts over trying to claim copyright on UK racecards. Well I think this might just be another one they will suffer a reverse on.

The financial penalty is out of proportion to the offence and on the face of it, would seem to be out of kilter with even a loose notion of natural justice.
