By:
Missing him more than i would miss you

Is that the same guy that said he would never ride at wolverhampton again after the stewards banned him twice on the bounce ? Whinger !

Richard Hughes=Class Act!

Tell you what Gerry. Why don't you go away for a week or two and see if your views are missed on the forum?
By:
i think fair play to the man for making a stance.. someone has to stand up and hopefully more will follow
By:
I miss his 'won't someone think of the punters?!' stance.
Brought a lump to my throat did that. Gawd bless ya Dickie |
By:
Thanks to Hughsie all will be back to normal and all the people against everything groups will be told to save whales elsewhere.
By:
Good Jockey but he aint no L.Piggott is he?
By:
willoughby pointed out that hannon fully backs him, how he kept a straight face i'll never know
By:
I'm sure Richard Hughes will be suitably overwhelmed with this show of support. He may even develop a similar lump in his throat to the one he caused JC with his "won't somebody think about the punters" line!
p.s. GANT007 You are deluded imo if you think that there will be any changes to the whip rules after the meeting on Monday. The BHA consists mainly of Tories and Tories never give in to those who strike or threaten to strike. |
By:
not missing a great jockey, you must be thick then. Hughsey shows us his worth in the shergar cup every year one of the most talented flat jockeys in the world just doesn't get on the real top quality horses.
By:
Yes Gerry,as I said on another thread, the BHA will not talk to the jockeys on Monday, they will talk AT them, because of their attitude that jockeys are in some way inferior to them.
By:
Gerry they will have to change the penalties that is a certainty.
By:
Gerry you would miss him if you backed a horse he normally rides and it got beat because its jockey did not know it well enough.
By:
at least with hughes making a stance something is happening, fair play to him for having the balls to do something, pity a few of the other top boys didnt hand there licence in and really stirr things up, the whalesavers really have fxxcked up animal sports in england, thank god i live in ireland.
By:
Gerry, me ole mucker.
Surely Edward Heath was a Tory ? |
By:
If Gerry and watchit took the chip of their shoulders it might balance it up!

watchit most ppl (about 80%) in life are sheep and just follow what the gravytrain tell them
By:
Wish the hills brothers had handed their licence in and did not get them returned.
By:
btw if they really wanted to make an impact they should have gone on strike today.

By:
the whalesavers seem to forget these animals race to get fed, they still get the same amount of feed wether they win or finish last. No racing = no racehorses hmmm saving animals i think not
By:
trap six, why didnt he take a stance in the proper way beofre he got banned, no he has a tantrum and gives racing bad publicity
By:
And they have to change the 'final furlong' idea. Crazy idea. Simply crazy but what you expect from this team.
For me the only satisfactory outcome from Monday would be the resignation of those involved including Paul Roy and Jamie Stier. And, I think, Kevin Darley must go. How, as the jockey's representative, has he allowed this to reach this stage? Unless the BHA duped him, that is. |
By:
Trust Gerry and whatchít, to see the smaller picture.
By:
You could see he had a major sulk on,some of his last few rides were a fookin disgrace.
By:
Busvaldo if you spot Mr Hughes in the street and ask for his autograph I am confident he will tell you to F Off ridiculous comment, you havent go a clue what hes like on the street
By:
K Darley is to much mr nice guy they should have fallon there giving them one of his stares and threatening them with the heavies.
By:
rider, you have a point, yes he spat like a child and probably would admit he handled it wrong, but who else was doing anything the others were all sitting back and excepting it......his reaction has caused a media interest,so the bha now have to address it.
By:
The Fallon stare, that would frighten the daylights out of me.[:(]
By:
Sometimes the dummy has to be spat out for gobs%ites to take notice...........Thank fcuk in Ireland we stood up to these groups in order to save the Horse and greyhound industy.........these groups have one agenda and will chip away piece by piece..
By:
everyone calls for consistency, then when they get it (and know the rules before hand) they then want common sense to be applied, prescott talked about this in his ruk interview and explained that the old rules were not fair to jockeys
By:
Hughes is a petulant joke, promoting an untenable argument that he's contradicted himself in the past. He's the best flat jock in the country, when he's pursuing personal glory, but I won't miss him.
By:
Did Hughes say the jockeys weren't consulted because Tony McCoy said they were.
By:
They weren't consulted on the 5 hits in the last furlong, according to Hughes.
By:
The BHA don't have to change the rules, but everyone expects them to because they have no backbone. A strike would do the jockeys no good whatsoever - if they don't realise this they have no grasp of the real world.

flyingbolt
Heath was indeed a Tory but he wasn't a Tory like Thatcher was a Tory, or Cameron for that matter. I suspect that the BHA Board are very much Tories in the Thatcher mould. The way I see it is if today's showcase meeting continues more or less without incident (ie no jockey suspensions) then the BHA will tough it out. Hughes needs racing more than it needs him - as much as a multi-millionaire needs anything that is. |
By:
If he was riding Frankel, he wouldn't have come out and said he didn't think he could do a proper job for Prince Khalid.
By:
I would like to take even money he will welsh on his statement and be back riding again with the existing laws still in place.
