Well my info for the 2.45 at Cheltenham is that the 5/4 fav, For Non Stop has had some very inconsistent schooling. A mixture of brilliance, overjumping with some horrendous blunders. Therefore around Cheltenham i would have to lay this one at its current odds. I am also told that Tim Vaughan's Bottman has schooled very well and is fancied by connections to go close here. At 7/1 with Sid James, i think this is a fair bet to take on the fav with.

u gotta lay it reveley riding like a man with no brain at the moment

lol yep big John was in my time too. in fact that forward line of murdoch, mills, hickton, foggon and armstrong brings back better memories than the ravanelli, juninho, emerson era.

lol i know what u mean dave. mind you, before too long it might be the man with no whip!

If there is one thing in For Non Stop's favour i suppose it would be that there are only five runners. therefore i suppose the pressure on its jumping ability would not be as great, as opposed to a field of say 10 runners. But ive always thought cheltenham had some of the stiffest fences and mistakes there are usually costly.

jolly roger wont get round if he jumps like he did at ludlow he hit so much wood that day he cud have been a carpenter!!!

Well i suppose you can at least guarantee that Jolly Roger will be fit and the trainer just seems to be getting winner after winner at the moment. Interesting though that that ones jockey Paul Moloney who is also riding plenty of winners recently has never rode a winner at cheltenham. 0-57 or something like that. Mind you Tim Vaughan who trains Bottman has never trained a winner here either, but im told that may change today well fingers crossed anyway.

Report Tallywagger. • October 14, 2011 11:28 AM BST
The fav is different class, surely?

That'll Do is a flat track horse with no guts for a battle

Same applies to Jolly Roger

The rag was beaten last time by a horse that made five serious blunders.

Bottman looks next best.

The danger to the fav is the man on top.
Report parispike • October 14, 2011 11:30 AM BST
Which is a big danger tally!
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 2:08 PM BST
Tally, i agree on hurdles form it looks to be the best horse in the race, but i was told on monday that the horse has had some indifferent schooling sessions. my view is that if it makes mistakes around this course it could make all the difference between winning and losing. at 5/4 it looked way too short
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 2:37 PM BST
well with bottman now a non runner it does kind of stuff up my lay somewhat so i think trading out is now the best option.

Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 4:45 PM BST
Well well done to those who stuck with the lay. Personally i got out as my reasons for laying were twofold. And this next bit is for Reve!!

Firstly as i had mentioned i had received info on monday that For Non Stop's schooling sessions had not been entirely straightforward. As mentioned they had been a mixture of brilliance, overjumping and some right old blunders.

Secondly on tuesday i received info that Bottman had schooled very well and connections fancied their chances of making a winning start over fences. I was told there were two races that they had their eye on. One was todays at cheltenham, the second was a race at worcester next wednesday. i have not spoken to anyone since tuesday so i have no idea why the horse was withdrawn. as it was so close to the off i am guessing something went amiss today either with the horse or it may be that they felt the ground was too quick after watching the first race.
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 4:50 PM BST
Now the reason i got out is that part of my lay was based on the fact that Bottman was expected to run well. In the end i probably need not have done so as the info i had was correct. Apart from the first two fences which For Non Stop jumped well, it had to fiddle a lot of the fences, making significant errors at the 3rd and 6th and eventually got in too close at the second last, clouted it and came down.

Report revedesivola • October 14, 2011 5:04 PM BST
Laugh very noble of you sharing our inside info. most people would just lay / back the advised selections, just like most connections running a horse at cheltenham that jumps poorly wouldnt allow it to go off 11/10Mischief

well reve, i decided that for a while i will put up any info i have on any races. after all that is what a forum is for is it not. i remember the days when this forum actually had people discussing racing and giving their thoughts and putting up the info they had. unfortunately i think those days are long gone apart from a couple of genuine souls on here who also share what they know.
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 5:15 PM BST
Oh believe me reve at the time i had to drive through st hilda's it looked like berlin in 1944 and as for the ladies offering their services, most of them looked like hitler.

i stopped at traffic lights at st hilda's..a lady jumped in and got Mike Hock out  Cool
Report revedesivola • October 14, 2011 5:15 PM BST
surely any "inside info" worth having is not worth sharing? i agree this place is gone to the dogs though, most have very little interest in racing
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 5:25 PM BST
Dear me mr hunt. did she look like an SS Stormtrooper?

i agree reve in general it does seem to have gone to the dogs, but will see how things go. probably get slaughtered at some point though when some of them dont run as well as they are expected too, but i just ignore them anyway. You make a point about going off at 11/10, well just to show how stupid the betting markets are these days, a horse i put up the other day Cool In The Shade, i was told it had been working very well and was strongly fancied to make all the running at Nottingham. I backed it at 5 6 and 7/1 as it drifted like a barge yet i knew of some people who were putting four figure amounts on it yet it was still returned 13/2. i dont understand that one either.
Report differentdrum • October 14, 2011 5:26 PM BST
Congratulations, didn't look a natural. Although it seems most Alderbrook's want quicker ground perhaps he could do with it a bit slower than today?
Report uptheboro • October 14, 2011 5:30 PM BST
Hi differentdrum, i am sure it will win races once it gets its jumping together. i just thought if its jumping was a little suspect at the moment then there is probably no better place to take it on than cheltenham and 5/4 just looked too short. as for bottman it will be interesting to see if it turns up at worcester next week.
