parispike - the whip does not hurt the horse

Then why does it have an effect?

paris - it's more of a reminder. It's not as if they suddenly scream and start throwing their dummies out of the pram. If it hurt that jockey would be on the floor in a fraction of a second. Don't know why people can't understand that.

Basically John "I'm your" Cocker a dubious writer who managed to get published in yesterdays letter section in the RP praised Mr Millingtons column !! Now try and get a sports betting post published ! Recommendation no chance....

No horse, in the history of horse racing, has ever veered, swerved, flinched, deviated or otherwise as a direct result of being hit with the whip - FACT. As bilbo says, why is this so difficult to understand?

As said previously Gerry -  you are very sad. You really don't like it up you do you? You can't be wrong can you. You always look for a way to make the facts suit your argument - you must be a journalist!! Sad, very sad.

Bilbo

What is the effect of this "reminder". What is the causative effect please?

I'm trying to make the facts suit my argument? What a feckin' loon!

What would you suggest is the cause of a horse swerving or veering immediately after being struck with a whip then?

paris - fairly obvious isn't it - the reminder makes the horse go forward as the jockey asks it for maximum effort. It doesn't hurt the horse - don't know how many times I have to say it.

Gerry - more insults . No doubt there will be no apology again. Default position again - losing the argument = insult.

I'll answer when you are civil and apologise . I don't appreciate talking to people like you who resort to insults.

Not so quick are you when you're stumped - Oh god - for him to answer me I have to apologise. But I never apologise because I'm such a coward - tricky one isn't it.

Will the moderators please erase these RP stooges and let us get back to the main debate.Every time someone has a just pop at the monopoly publication some half-wit emerges and later the thread has vanished.

i also seem to remember Millington giving it to Derek McGovern (so to speak) whenever an opportunity arose. They surely had a long-running spat and I don't think it emanated from Del Boy.
