A perfect analogy On The Snaff,they effectively have to have two running tots one for the race and the other for the final furlong,its just plain wrong.

If they changed the rules of boxing so that you could only hit someone  with your left hand,in the heat of the moment every boxer would give the other guy a right hander. Just use your left how hard can it be

if they changed the rules in boxing that you could only throw 30 punches in a fight and 5 in the last round,would we expect them to be able to count in the heat of the battle????

Dont some jocks count strides as well? Be easy to forget your whip count if youre counting something else

Boxing? What a great analogy! So using the whip is like a punch? That comparison is sure to please everyone!

And if counting is too distracting for jockeys, leading to hideous mobile-phone-like crashes (another fantastic realistic comparison, well done!), perhaps the jockeys shouldn't be let loose with a whip at all. Think of their loss of concentration... if they didn't have to remember to hold on to this thing in their hands, they would be able to ride the horse much better, surely?

Get real here. They just have to count to 5 (and if they can manage it, count to 2 before the final furlong). IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO DO.
