Absolutely spot on,the game as been destroyed and they wont stop until its ruined.

The rot started earlier than that. All weather racing was the harbinger of impending doom for a once wonderful sport.

when will they realise that getting one or two new customers is not gonna make up for the hundreds of old stalwarts that are now turning away from the sport.
also those same stalwarts arent even promoting it to friends or family anymore which was always the best referral method any 'product' could have... |

Racing for change seem totally clueless, they just seem intent on promoting the sport like some X factor product.. when you look back to the great days of the past it breaks your heart, to see how totally horrible it as become.
I think a lot of the blame for letting it get this bad, is the presenters and pundits, who will not speak there mind on what they really feel or see, they just tow the party line.. terrified of being controversial for fear of getting thrown off the `Gravy Train'! The game is a shadow of its former self.. and anyone who remembers how good it once was, could not take part in it now.. Total Dross day after day . |

they're certainly changing the landscape. However it is to the detriment of the sport, not sure if that was the initial brief discussed by Hector,Algernon and Lord Snooty.

SPOT ON, Delta.
Eric, "The game is a shadow of its former self.. and anyone who remembers how good it once was, could not take part in it now." ... - and the problem is - the 'Bright Young Things', fresh out of UNI, often charged with making these changes - do NOT know, "how good it once was" --- so they cannot make the comparison. ![]() |

Given the outcry, duncan - I would have thought that increased Testosterone levels would be more appropriate.

I think everyone would agree that the game as changed for the worse.. but it seems to be in freefall now... and the point is absolutely right about the `bright young things' having no recollection of good the game used to be.
What I hate most about the game these days is `The Class'as completely gone, its just a jumbled up pile of rubbish.. in fact I hate so much about the game these days, it would take me to long to put them all down. And Yes.. I have stopped punting on horses.. in case you were wondering. |

Racing is becoming uninteresting to watch you are attracted to sport by the rewards for winning if there is next to nothing at stake jockeys are simply going through the motions. The use of the whip is a key factor in the skill of a jockey take it away and turn the game into a faceless sport with no exitement and no character.

I agree with the earlier point about the Presenters & Pundits.. nearly all of them are total Sychophants.. bordering on the Sickening.. Noses and Troughs etc !!

I know there are a lot of things wrong with the sport, but I think that it is the small time owners that are suffering most. If we compare now to 25 years ago when I was first allowed to bet then we now have.
Betfair 2 dedicated racing channels Great horses Trainers open days for the public Syndicates are more popular Live racing in betting shops More racing if you want it ie evening racing in winter This forum. Its not all bad |
