Are any of these horses still in training with Aidan O'Brien, does anyone know?

ROC gone to stud in india, I'd imagine the rest will either be sold to DeKocks yard or sold to Hong Kong and given new names a la Steinbeck.
Report ilikewavingatbuses • October 9, 2011 1:06 PM BST
whats steinbecks new name?
Report corbiewood • October 9, 2011 1:13 PM BST
think ROC been sold to the stud where hawk Wing stands (or stood).  Those pin hookers that were popping out hawk wing progeny for big money must be laughing there chops off.

Can't remember mate but he defo has a new one, I think I read Ace is standing at the same stud in India.

New era coming at Coolmore me thinks, new stable jocks and they're using a lot of new stallions, yer Scat Daddy, oasis dream, Mr Greely. The influences are getting more speed orientated and American. New era, they want Guineas winners not that Gallileo can't do that but they are coming at it from other angles now.

Thanks lads. Just googled it.

Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla has bought three-year old Irish 2000 Guineas winner of this year, Roderic O`Connor to stand as a stallion at the family owned Poonawalla Stud Farm. The horse was trained by Irish champion Aidan O`Brien. Roderic O`Connor was incidentally ridden to victory in the Irish premier classic by the 17-year-old son of Aidan O`Brien namely Joseph who won the first classic of his career on the son of Galileo.

It's an awful pity Aidan dosen't get more opportunity to work with horses like Roderic. A dual Group One winner and even though he was found out against some top class opposition, he's still be at the Famous Name level where he'd win Group 2s and 3s as he liked! Possibly might sneak a European Group One or even the type to thrive in something like a BC Mile.

Same with the others......just short of the very top class, but still very classy in their own right. If O'Brien had time and resources to work with these type of horses, he could win several more top races.

Viva Pataca is an another example of the name change thing isn't he
Report cardifffc • October 9, 2011 1:30 PM BST
think ROC  is top class just badly placed
Report jmc27 • October 9, 2011 1:30 PM BST
On the other hand Coolmore was founded on American/Canadian bloodlines.
BTW Scat Daddy ran in Tabors colors and stands at Ashford and is the leading first season sire in the States at the moment so they would always support him

Sorry that was in reply to Neill D

Yeah used to be Cosmic Strip. Name changes in Hong Kong are regular since the horses are being bought entirely for racing purposes (regularly gelded upon sale). Hence no need to keep old name for breeding and marketing reasons. A name like Super Pistachio sounds a lot better than Westphalia for example too !!
Report neill d • October 9, 2011 1:35 PM BST
Oh right, my only knowledge of him would be from Daddylonglegs, they seem to have a really good crop of 2yos this year, would you think they've shaken things up jmc, the Oasis Dream angle should be really interesting imo, his speed on top of staying but not slow mares says Classic to me, they will send mares to him I presume, they aren't just buying his stock at the sales are they?
Report neill d • October 9, 2011 1:36 PM BST
Indeed it does, he was a Prescott horse wasn't he, Hong Kong sounds very exciting.
Report jmc27 • October 9, 2011 1:45 PM BST
Coolmore send mares to Juddmonte and vise versa. The well publicised foal exchange they have is one route but Coolmore support at the sales aswell were Juddmonte rarely ever go to the sales buying up Cacique stock was the last time I can remember.

My 2 cents Coolmore know the best blood outside of theirs is Juddmontes just like Juddmonte think that of Coolmores so they have a working relationship that goes right back.
Alexandrova, All too Beautiful, Gagnoa and Moonstone are some Coolmore broodmares that had foals to Dansili this year.

Sorry that should have been last year. They are yearlings now and will be running next year
Report neill d • October 9, 2011 1:50 PM BST
Cheers jmc, cleared it up for me, yup, they seem the two best organisations. I think Coolmore might have a really good next season.

Simon Crisford, said: "Denman won't go for the July Cup - the idea was to come over here for that race,
but we've run out time with him and he's not fit enough for the race.

"He was due to go straight into quarantine straight after the July meeting and we haven't time to find
another race for him.

"It was always the plan for him to return to the southern hemisphere to take up stud duties and that is
what will happen."

Still waiting for White Moonstone to appear hear Cry
Report jmc27 • October 9, 2011 2:50 PM BST
Thats some tosh I remember at the time they were quite bullish and they were going to run him in the Sussex after the July Cup. That was three weeks after the July Cup so they had plenty of time to get him fit if that was true about him not been fit for the July Cup.
They basically f**ked him up trying to copy AOB with his imports
Report EastLower Gooner • October 9, 2011 4:33 PM BST
heard they'll bring helmet across next year.
