adge i was a newmarket member until hancock came along, that was the start of things going down hill,as you know i seldom miss a meeting on the rowley mile but that is only because of the quality racing it has ,the entrance price to all its fixtures is way to high, regarding next year i think the guineas meeting will hold up fine the rest i fear the worst.

i see newmarket was very pleased with a crowd of 9,000,and very pleased the hospitality was sold out, they never mentioned about the marquees in the center of the course, york got 20,000 plus for a back end card feauturing a sprint handicap.

It never stopped raining at York either.  How did the business hold up in tatts adge, was it lower than last year (which I thought was poor)?

So hard to price pitches at the moment.  Neither of those will get you on the grass for the big Saturdays but they are still OK.  I wouldn't spend that sort of money on a pitch this close to 2012 without knowing what deal is going to be struck regarding commercial fees.  York has held up fairly well in the recession through offering good value for money imo.  Still down, but not as much as others.

To "The Rowley 5".  Well done for making this stance.  I am in full support.

I will be contacting Newmarket, SBPA and AGT to make my views known and suggest others do the same.

Next year it is highly likly that an annual marketing fee of 5 x entry fee will be levied by Newmarket.  If Silver Ring Books choose to pay this they want it used to to get people into that enclosure not out!

He is entitled to his view and i am mine, will have to agree to disagree on this one.

facts please
When: 09 Oct 11 23:37
It is madness that in the height of the recession we are in, that racecourses are not promoting Silver Rings more. Racing can not be compared to Premiership Football as some, probably most, courses run by non racing people dream they are in.  Racing is a minority sport. Racing needs to accept this fact.

Thank goodness we still have the likes of Salisbury and a few other courses which are run by PROPER racing folk. Long may they prosper.

Barry, sorry to hear Stephen is off sick, but he must shoulder the blame,Stephen i compare to Premiership Manager,Gets Epsom Relegated then gets another Job, Newmarket for Relegation this Season.

don't be so sure jimnast
can you confirm that neil pateman [ AGT ] knew nothing of the plans before you told him on saturday

If any NBPA members were involved Alan,a letter from our association validated by a director and signed by the chairman would not do any harm.

neil knew nothing about it,and did his very best to sort it out,but the racecourse were not for moving on it until the punters started giving them grief,by then 2 books had gone so there was no way we could bet.

the truth ,
there is always a reason why pitches come up for sale.
although i'm certain that the fact that the rowley silver numbers 1 and 2 being in the auction sale last week is pure coincidence
By:
