reported in the paper that Hanson was on 2 million a year contract. I make that £38,461 a week, if you think he's worth that much you must be not have a grasp on reality.

The BBC should concentrate on quality and not chase ratings with clones of what is available elsewhere.

Waste Of The Day:
How the BBC squanders £2,000 a week on taxis to chauffeur Alan Shearer and Co hundreds of miles home from Match Of The Day

By Paul Revoir and Paul Sims

MailOnline - news, sport

The BBC spends more than £2,000 a week on taxis driving its big-name Match of the Day pundits between studios in London and their homes in northern England.

In yet another example of the corporation's extravagant spending, former footballers Alan Shearer, Alan Hansen and Mark Lawrenson are regularly chauffeured home to the North East and Merseyside at the expense of the licence fee payer.

Rather than saving money by taking a train and staying overnight in the capital, the pundits are driven hundreds of miles once the show finishes recording at BBC Television Centre in Shepherd's Bush in West London, every Saturday night.

Match of the Day pundits Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer are often chauffeured to their homes in the north of England at the expense of the licence fee payer

They are often also driven south to record the programme earlier in the afternoon  -  and have received the same door-to-door service on occasion for events like England or FA Cup matches.

Receipts seen by the Daily Mail show that it costs £580 to drive Alan Shearer the almost 300 miles one way from London to his house near Newcastle.

In the case of Alan Hansen, whose home is more than 200 miles from the capital in Merseyside, the leaked receipts show the trip costs around £470 one way. Fares for Mark
pugh

Lawrenson, who lives near former Liverpool team-mate Hansen, would come to a similar amount, although the BBC says the pair often share a cab.

If all three are driven both ways on a particular Saturday, the total bill comes to more than £2,000  -  even when Hansen and Lawrenson share.Laugh

They have many examples of duplicting reports for different programmes eg 5 Live flew a presenter to Japan for two days to report on the earth quake just for a R5 programme.

Apparently all the leaders of the BNP do not pay the license fee.

According to their thinking the BBC license fee is illegal within the EU competition rules. If they took them to the european court the BBC would lose the case so they don't prosecute anyone that knows the rules. I'ts only mug like us they persecute but if you have enough cash they would not dare take you to court.

would not bother me if the bbc disapeared completely overnight in fact I would be glad
plenty of good TV on sky and the other channels.not that I watch that much anyway tbh apart from the sport and there is precious little of that on the bbc these days
as regards ads on radio they are annoying but the bbc advertise their own programmes all the time and they are often just as annoying as any commercial ad.

Have I missed a reply,  but surely the MOTD shower must go.     ONly recently realised they were actually being paid.    Had assumed it was some sort of self-accreditation exercise to keep them in the "limelight".

GO for Gods sake GO.
