do you think Sanders hooked up a Prescott/Cheveley Park horse with a decent chance of winning ? Of course he didn't. Personal opinions are going to vary but I considered that Hughes outfoxed Seb on what is maybe a better horse anyway. You wouldn't find two riders more different and although Richard has had many critics since his emergence here in the summer of '94 a lack of tactical nous has rarely been a problem. On the other hand if you want the flat racing equivalent of Jeff King digging one out from before halfway, then Seb might be your man. I didn't hear Sean's analysis but usually I find him measured and intelligent. In fact he's streets ahead of all of the others occupying that desk. I 've acted as the agent for both Sanders and Hughes. Artist or artisan....and the artisan's been a champion jockey. Funnily enough so were Darley and Muis Robers but I'd never remotely give either a favourable comparison to Hughes. He's a joy to watch and better than ever this year.
He simply isn't going to be critical of Sanders or any other jockey, diplomacy is part of the job description. The soft questioning of bookies reps is the stomach churning aspect of his work.

After Chapman got a smack on the wrist the ATR edict is obviously ´don´t rock the gravy train´.
And I agree, few if any jockeys are riding better than Richard Hughes this year, even though he is a jockey I just cannot second guess...

Irrespective of what Hughes did Sanders should have won - anyone who couldn't see that should seriously think about packing the game up. As for Boyce, ignoring the obvious is just treating viewers with contempt. Like so many there isn't much you could teach him about looking after his own position. He will no doubt be delighted to know he has a few fans in the industry.
