He runs every race to within a pound,over distances that I think are too short for him.
He is a handicapper's dream ,he is the key for every race in which he competes,you just work around him.

Being objective - he wasn't given the most inspiring of rides. I know the draw didn't help but he was far enough back to have been able to take him to the outside and make his move earlier. I think he should definitely have been a clear second.

SYT broke 57 for the last 1000, not exactly shabby over 1 1/2 miles, so he stayed well. Beaten, but far from disgraced. No horse made more ground from that far back. I think it is sad that we are spraying each other with pointless insults. Great horse, has proven itself. I am more interested in peoples thoughts on Danedream, I stayed up till 1.30am down here in Aus to watch and loved her performance, awesome.

I thought SYT ran a very good race given a conservative ride by Heffernan.

A decent run from a decent horse, I believe riding the horse from off the pace is the best way as he doesn't seem to do a tap in front, when he hit the front in the crawl that was the Melbourne cup after cruising into contention he stopped as if shot if they went much further he would been swamped out of the place money, holding him up allowed him to finish as close as he did yesterday imo.
But we all know he's no world beater a genuine group one animal that won't go down in history alongside the greats of times past or times future.

using mouryan as a benchmark to how good sts is/was  makes absolutely no sense!

to actually doubt the ability of sts is just stupid, just look at what he did, will prob never be replicated and he would laugh at syt and as u will know from my comments i think v highly of syt and am one of his supporters. hes a bloody good horse and naver runs a bad race but compared to sts hes nothng!

i dont know why syt gets a hard tome tbh, im irish and i think hes a cracking horse and ran a blinder from a sh!te stall yesterday!

i would like to see him run again maybe in the champion stakes at ascot, only because he takes his racing so well, i hink o brien shouldve got another race in to him before the arc personally, hes a huge horse!

and dont tate things too personally, most are on here just to wind people up

To put yesterdays Arc into some sensible perspective,Bago won on ground the soft side of easy in 2.25 carrying 3lb more in a messy race.Marrienbard clocked 2.26.7 in similar circumstances carrying 11b more.STS clocked 2.26.3 on similar ground to yesterday despite being reigned back and virtually strolling the last 100m.

So whilst it was a record time it is not and indication that it was exceptional in comparison to those mentioned,in which case it is further proof that SYT is no greatest ever.However it does put him up as a very good horse taking the 11b he gave the filly into consideration.On a par with the others mentioned and they were no superstars.[;)][;)]
