My Lord, I was attempting to make a serious point.
You my Lord with your Silver Spoon upbringing have
no fear of ending your days like a dog in a present
day NHS Hospital, I most sadly have.

Wee eck, old bean... why don't you start ONE thread where you can air your gripes to ease the pain at modern life you so obviously feel: not EVERY one wants to hear your anti-establishment piffle on each thread you drop into[:p]

wee eck, I certainly do not envy your fate. I have heard of these hospitals where the care standards leave much to be desired. I suppose the biggest consolation for you is that your treatment is free.
Not wishing to look down on your circumstances I do hope that when your time comes you are not left in a bed desperate to be assisted with your bodily functions but none of the staff seem to be aware of tour pressing the nurse call button. If the need arises I suggest you avoid break/lunch times to ensure the maximum number of staff are to hand though even so they might be otherwise engaged on some pen-pushing exercise. Most inconvenient should they be distracted from these vital 'target' activities.
If by chance you should require pain relief you might need to be somewhat vocal in your request. I suggest you scream the place down until a junior doctor drags himself away from his/her social intercourse.
Good luck, wee eck.

And as for fxxking off - take your stupid preconceptions and ranting and blinkered chip on shoulders to another thread... you waded in with your stupid comment about horses and hospitals where it was not invited... so YOU fxxk off, WITH THE GREATEST OF RESPECT
This is a bit of fun, not more ammo for those with chips on shoulders

Wee eck, you seem to have misunderstood my intentions. A touch of irony can sometimes be misconstrued as making light of a situation. I fear that I failed to get across my own disgust with what I too have witnessed.
It was not my intention to ignore your understandable anger at the state of our NHS services, though not everywhere is bad, I might add. I empathise greatly with your recent loss and share similar memories of witnessing loved ones being ignored and treated negligently. One feels quite helpless in being unable to turn back the clock.

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH... MANY of the hospitals - and I've seen all the ones inside 100miles in the last 20yrs - are staffed by very hard-working decent people...
The PROBLEMS ARE MULTITUDINOUS:
We cld start by stopping elective, unnecessary surgery on the NHS - tax payers should not be paying for breast enlargements/reductions (unless part of some medical problem), sex changes, elective abortions (unless a life is at risk or as a result of rape etc) and many other procedures that are NOT part of what the NHS was conceived to cover - let people have insurance policies or pay for private care if they want/need such things - the savings would pay for better care of cancer/stroke patients to name but two.
Military personnel (if this doesn't happen already - I'm no expert) should have a premium charged on their income which funds MILITARY hospitals where they can be treated by specialists and not have an impact on the NHS as a whole.
Underpaid staff in the 80s/90s created a drain away so agency staff were brought in as a necessity but ended up costing many times more than simple pay rises would have
A culture of out-sourcing means the NHS is paying BILLIONS annually for services it could do itself
Cleaning should be done internally, not outsourced to the lowest bidders who do a poor job to save money
Purchasing & Logistics should be done by a purchasing manager, skilled in sourcing best products at best price, not outsourced to "Consultants"
Decision-making and planning and strategy should be the domain of those who manage the hospital, not out-sourced to very expensive external bodies... and if you cannot make decisions you should not be running the ship
It's all common sense but the system is fxxked and the technology is utterly screwed and it is slowly bankrupting the nation... successive governments have ducked the issues and brushed them under the carpet, but in the midst of a recession if we don't tackle it now we WILL go under as there are no savings left to pith down the NHS pan

Wee eck, I have no idea what your recent "Loss" is/was, but you have my sympathy... you will see from my thread link above early in this piece that I, too, am seeing things first hand, not just from a distance...
NOW... may I hunbly suggest we move this thread back to it's original content

As to the state of the NHS - suggest you read my first-hand assessment above. I write as one who has spent twenty yrs sitting and waiting in hospitals whilst my mother has had bits chopped off her, as one whose sibling is heavily involved in cost-saving/Green strategies for a group of NHS trusts in the North, as one whose policies are NON-political (I have not voted the last four times) but based on business sense and adherance to certain core principles and as one who cares passionately about public services and believes they SHOULD be free and NOT privaticed

VERY happy to have a measured debate when you have a clear mind, not affected by recent events or adherance to class war ideologies... but let's have it on ANOTHER thread or in a private message exchange... meanwhile, I'd be obliged if you turn up on one of MY threads to TRY and keep to the original content and keep your bad manners and language to yourself

Can Goldie be beaten??? They've ducked Frankel at the QEII so is this a shoo in for her?
If I were Simcock I'd be running a pacemaker as I believe Dream Ahead needs to come off a fast pace... I'd even look at sending him to the Abbey rather than the Foret! If he runs in the Foret instead of the Ascot race then they've missed a big pay day... but perhaps they'll do both...
NOW... who's gonna win the Foret?http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=540613&r_date=2011-10-02#raceTabs=lc_Marchand D´OrWorthaddAlianthusDream AheadSurfriderBewitchedDever DreamFlash DanceGoldikovaCan Goldie be beaten??? They've
