Not sure The Mongoose is worth 73, but I would give the winner 88.

As I say all about opinions. On the bare form of the race it's hard to rate the winner higher than what you suggest. However the way he quickened away suggested to me he could be useful. Could be a Listed horse imo.
By:
The horse certainly has potential, you could be right about listed class.

Whatever Eddie's talents are they seem to have got him a job on TV.
Which is more than you or I have. At least he gives the impression he knows the horses he's talking about.......unlike some who read aloud what's written in the Racing Post. |
By:
Rather listen to him then francs and shut your eyes any day.

By:
Ah that old chestnut.

Goes to races anyway, why not get paid, and get the ex's paid

Watchit . . Maybe to get paid to talk about a sport he loves??
Me and bolty are pros should replace shut eyes and cluelees with us pair[;)][smiley:crazy] |
By:
Maybe he likes the attention.
By:
wot was the time?
By:
To clarify.......I have no idea whether he makes it pay or whether anybody would following him. I go my own way. I'm just saying he seems more clued up than most.
Just to confirm ,at the start of this thread I'm disagreeing with him. ![]() |

Perhaps he thinks getting a monkey to appear at a couple of tracks he'll be going to anyway is good business. Who knows ? |

jumpers for goalposts surely

Forgot about Zoe, watchit

By:
I once scored 10 goals through jumpers.
By:
there arnt many i bother with, Mellish knows his onions imo, but none of them seem to have the time to do the hard hours needed to find the value it is all consuming sometimes, wot they do do is give you a rough idea of how to do it but no fecker can give you an informed thourghly researched opinion on every race in a given day....
By:
Eddie has openly admitted he doesn't consider himself a pro-punter.
By:
Exactly,FD.
I just like to hear people talking about racing but there is so much nowadays and they can't be expected to be on top of everything. However there are certain pundits who just seem to go through the motions. |
By:
Racing UK had a young bloke Andy summit on, he was a pro punter, but he was all substance no style so got binned, people sayed he talked too fast......
By:
the problem is that we live in the MTV era, its not what u say but how u say it....
By:
thats him, nice guy, i remember won night at kempton he stuck up a 60/1 shot which won was over 100.0 on here i think most of the time he'd tell the punters to steer clear of this race or that one, all made sense but he was lampooned....
By:
Talking about alleged pro punters what about that Matt Doyle who turned his back on riches to work for Trybet ? He couldn't spot a market mover if Arthur Fowler turned up at Cheltenham....

YA GIT ME FAT BOY ![]() |

Minimum of 91 more likely mid nineties the race was only .26 slower than con artist winning off 99 eased down, the 3yr old middle distance runners are very competitive this year borne out by lots of decent times this season.[;)]

Thanks for the kind words FD but just to clarify I wasn't binned! It was becoming too expensive to work on the TV as I couldn't punt properly while being on there and from a monetary perspective it just didn't add up. However I loved doing the odd gig, they were really pleased with me and I got a buzz out of it so maybe in the future I will do the odd shift just as a change of scene from the punting. Despite the many upsides studying form religiously can get routine and mundane just like any other job.
For what it's worth I've done my absolutes this weekend and it's when you perform like a prize plonker like I have in the last 48hours that you sometimes wish your sole income wasn't derived from punting horses! I sometimes get on the tube at 8am in the morning just to remind myself what 'the real world' is like out there & to remind me how lucky I am and give myself the needed kick up the backside - it's easy to take things for granted and slack when you're self employed. Anyway the show must go on - gotta work out who's gonna win this woefully uninspiring Arc at the weekend - good luck to all. |
By:
Hang in there preacher. Our Aga Khan man from the off licence asked me yesterday about the Arc.Spent 5 mins giving him my (poor) opinions about draw (up to 25 runners now) ground etc.only for him to tell me he fancies Sarafina! Get away.
Can't have Reliable Man or Galikova so there's your forecast.Workforce has run his best 2 races in big fields so a bit of deja vu.Surprised you there with my French.....bet you didn't know I was fluent in 2 languages.English and talking b0llocks. |
By:
Morning John - well that's the first 1.01 of the day home and hosed (him fancying Sarafina!)
Gotta be honest I haven't done the race to death yet so not qualified to share any strong views at this point. I've long thought if it came up a total bog then Vadamar could be a proper result in the race but I understand that sort of ground scenario is unlikely. As an aside I think that horse could be a Cup horse at Ascot next year, unlikely to be retired with his profile, stamina laden and definitely the type to go on again at four. One thing I know for sure is we have been blessed in recent years that there's been a superstar in the race and there aint no superstars in there this year - which makes it open. Will see you later in the week - taking the first part of this week off to get my head together and will come back for the better racing at the weekend, be lucky. |
