Call It A Day-thought you were going to win the National once
I'm an Aintree veteran (ish). I've been going to all the fixtures for the past 20 yrs.
If you want to be virtually over the winning post from a height choose County Stand Roof.
Princess Royal Roof & Seats are good too, slightly off to the left you still have a fairly near view of the winning post.
I'm not overstruck on the QM stand as it's located marginally after the winning post but it's still a good view.
I do not like the Lord Sefton & Earl Of Derby stands. They face down the home straight and I prefer side on views. If you like head-ons they're the stands for you. I personally call them the "Schmoozers" Stands. They tend to be full of people entertaining with little knowledge of the racing, rather than avid fans.
County tends to be your enthusiasts stand.
Happy selecting!

Have to agree that County Stand Roof and Princess Royal are best views and also the ones frequented by "genuine" race-goers..
Sefton and Derby imho see to be frequented by shrieking Corporate types who wouldn't know the back end of a horse from the front......OK for totty watching crap for horse race watching!

I am also a regular at Aintree and have found the most cost effective way and least crowded way to attend (especially the National meeting) is too purchase a Tatts ticket. However, do not ever go into that area, walk immediately round to the owners and trainers section and just stroll in. There are never any security watching that section and if there are they never ? u as they would not want to upset any owner or trainer, simples.

I think you might find that most of the availability for the Friday and Saturday has gone with only the County and Princess Royal Roof tickets available. From experience, they sell out fast even though they go on sale in August.

The slappers are everywhere not just the cheap stands. you can spot them. they look like they have just stepped off the set of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

All the decent tickets are sold out apart from Princess Royal roof and County stand roof for GN day, they were even sold out before they went on general sale due to people buying for all three or two days. I've been going for thirty years this year and I think it now rivals Cheltenham for class races with Cheltenham watered down and becoming quantity over quality. The Thursday is the best day of the year for me, great for picking winners. Friday is lying on the couch with a few placepots and then Saturday I force myself to do it all again. Roll on April12th 2012..
