We have to unite and take on the murky underworld? If not punters are doomed forever...that is a fact...instead of pocket talking let hit the big boys in the pocket...Come on...

What about those of us who like being in the murky underworld OTM,taking money from the books is what it is all about shirley? You cant expect punters who have punted the info I give to return the money,it would make them hypocrites if they went on strike.I would like to help but I cant tell 6 puters on to have a day off,how will they put food on the table?SadSad

I admire your intentions OTM. But it simply wouldn't work.
Gamblers don't do collective activism. They do everything for themselves, and for money.
A little campaign got going on Facebook after Betfair upped the premium charge. And, to a degree, it worked. The liquidity on here dived and surged on the d aq.
Then the main campaign players disappeared as quickly as they emerged. All the other grievances and issues they discussed were quickly forgotten once they had started cashing in again.

Hey watchit...I have seen that documentary...thanks for posting up the link...It's very much appreciated...Keep up the good work...The Jockey Club looked very sloppy in this programme...

The big thing to take out of that documentary is one sentance "this was an industry rapidly closing ranks"...they were all in on it...all making easy money...where was it coming from...the ordinary punters...
By:

When: 01 Sep 11 21:51
I agree. it needs to be done and would be a willing participant...

However imo your message will only ever reach a very small % of punters.probably not enough to make any significant impact.

Maybe trial days midweek, see how it goes.with the objective obviously a Saturday.

Thanks kohaku...I will be targetting other internet forums and various different mediums to spread the word...We need to get all punters on board not just horse racing punters...

Everybody should look up the Panorama documentary on YouTube...it's under Bent Horse Racing...it's in 6 parts and very few people have viewed the clips...

Every time I look at it it amazes how slow the Jockey Club were to act. If they feared foe their lives which I'm sure was a risk that had to have entered the equation they should have gone straight to the police...Punters were backing dead meat for years and the finger was pointed more so at National Hunt jockeys more so than Flat jockeys...The words "a whole generation" were used. That's not to say that flats jockeys were in on the act.

My firm opinion is that races are not fixed but that lots of favourites are being stopped...If races were being fixed wholesale the arse would have fallen out of the game a long time ago.

Any thoughts on this?

OTM,
Just because somebody takes exception to your lunatic ideas does not mean they have nothing constructive to say.
Indeed, the suggestion that you would struggle to debate with a chimp makes perfect sense to me.
Give it up,you utter clown.

Imhotep...My identity will be in public domain before too long...Trust me you will be very surprised to find out who I am...Believe me this strike will happen. Your negative attitude and empty waffle is just a waste of time...It's people like you that keep the game fully funded...You are most likely a mug who knows little or nothing about how corrupt racing is...

Incidentally, the game (as you put it) has supplied me with a very good living for over twenty five years.
I am perfectly happy with the way it is.

I have proposed that the strike goes ahead on Saturday October 08th 2011...i have set up another thread to deal with this issue...I think that it is a suitable date but I open to a debate on the matter...

Fair play to OTM i have often thought of putting up a thread like this. Certain races i have seen in Ireland this year have been particulary bad with the with fancied horses travelling strongly till the last and then apparently finding nothing under a less than animated jockey. Then the stewards give the jock/trainer a slap on the wrist. If the livelyhood of said persons was brought into question by lenghtly bans these situations would happen less often. The pressure for change, in sport comes from the money that funds it and public opinion. If betfairs turnover is affected by boycotts the natural thing for it to do would be to ask for more transparency and fairness. Im in.

Well Im off to see King Lear on 01/10 so thats me missing that day. In the past I would have a bet on the big race of the day, but im betting less and less on horses now. Mon- Fri usually crap racing Sat its too much. Last week was betting on cricket20/20, this week will prob do the one dayer. The funny thing is and Im sure i speak for most 30+ on here that it was the horses that got me into betting and now im turning more to other sports. Roll on jumps season.
