Solar Cloud was deafo NOT a Ramsden horse. The colours were vaguely similar, Solar Clouds being purple and white chevrons, Ramsden blue and white hoops. A couple of years after its Cheltenham win the horse was sold to Judy Davies' dad, and she rode it to several wins around the minor courses. The horse was only the size of a pony, but could jump.

As for Ramsden, I'm a Walsall supporter, and we had a couple of great seasons until the **** futures market went belly up. He'll always be remembered for turning up for game in his chopper, and for his free turkeys at Christmas for the Saddlers OAP fans!!!!

Hit his peak when Katies beat Sheikh Mo's Pebbles in the Coronation Stakes.
Ramsden is reckoned to have backed his filly to win a million, and when she passed the post in front was reported in Private Eye to have leant out of his box at Royal Ascot yelling, "FK THE ARABS!" |

Thanks for clearing the Solar Cloud info out for me. I can now move realising i had wrong for 25 years. Maybe this blockage has held me back in life. My train of though is super speedy already.

Hallgate springs to mind in the mid 80's.....trained by Mick Easterby....landed some touches.
Met Terry Ramsden at "Stubbs Club" club in Romford (part owned by John H, Stracey), it was Terry Downes 50th. Birthday party bash., Mike Reid was compere comedian, loads of football, racing & boxing faces there.....Terry R. was feted like a god in them days. |

Terry Ramsden and that National bet with Mr Snugfit http://www.grandnational.info/terry-ramsden-and-the-1m-national-gamble/
I remember Mr Snugfit the year it finished 2nd to Last Suspect. One of the Easterby's trained it.Nottingham had jumps racing back then and I saw it win it's final race before Aintree.I still can't believe the horse got done on the run in .Terry got it for the next year when as was said earlier it finished 4th . I'm sure it was going to be aimed at the race the year after that, but I'm sure it broke a leg on the gallops or something. |

Just watched the documentary, great viewing. Very similar in his beliefs to Harry Findlay.
Any books on him? |

But when the Japanese market collapsed in 1987, so did Glen International and Ramsden's fortune.Ladbrokes alone was owed £58m.
An example of how given the half a chance Ladcrokes bleed their customers dry. Must have been fun explaining to the shareholders how that extendewd credit venture was a good commercial decision. ![]() |

Stearsby was impressive that day he won the Welsh National; he'd previously been with MW Easterby and was moved to Pitman. Ramsden also owned the ex Robert Sangster/ MW Easterby Chapel Cottage' he transfered her to Mick Ryan.
