Isabelonabicycle is a fav of mine. Apparently Weatherbys insist that horse names have no more than 7 syllables, but this girl got thru their rules.
Of horses with more than 18 spaces, Jacklighte Bellevue won on his Kempton debut a few years ago |

A NICE STORY about the TINKLERS? You are having a giraffe, they started the syndicate rip off, entering 2 horses in a race, tipping one, backing the other.Odds shortened on the one that was punted by their owners, the other punted by them pushed out.

This was probably in the 70s or early 80s but Chastity Belt and Sin No More came up in a dual forecast.
|
|

Perhaps some diligent researcher could find the race, but I don't know the meeting, the year, the trainers or the jockeys! A bit difficult.

The Johnnie Walker Ebor Handicap was won by Ovaltine, which was a bit unfortunate for the sponsors.

I have to check myself from being influenced by 'fast' names.
Horses with names like Jewelled Dagger, any name containing words like 'winner','fast','speed' within them - always have to forcibly remind myself that a name bears no relation to an animals ability. What I'm sure of is that names like these get overbet, so the price will always be false. Same works in reverse for horses with 'rubbish' names |

persianpunch: Oh yes, it is true. Although it was a trotter but the name slipped through the control, to manys delight......

Thanks, Ribellaro. It just shows how faulty memory can be after a few years. I was sure that they had come first and second, and that it was a flat race too. But congratulations on finding that race and very well done.

Firstly, it was Popham Down who caused all the mayhem in Foinavon's national.
I'd like to nominate Katie's Tight Jeans, Hinari Televideo, B!tch and The Newmarket Sausage. Some of the best named Jafeica, Kids Inheritance, The Wife's Sister, Carnt Spell. |

There was a horse which raced as far as I can remember in the 70s called Auspice - a difficult one for the racecourse commentator. Possibly trained by M stoute.
