There are certain races were two , three or four against the field is a good ploy. Making a little bit is what the bookies do, playing them at their own game has made me decent profits over the years, especially when I go racing.
Each to their own. Any thoughts

Would have prefered slightly better ground but stands out on RPR and decent chance starting handicaps off low weight on course that brought flat success. Only found 1-4 hotpot too good last time albeit by 20l with same distance to the third and the plan will be to try to make all and use flat speed to show them a clean pair of hooves..

billy, that tactic is nuts, unless you are 100% sure one of your selectons will win, and with just a win and a place from 7 bets, and a fancied running actually winning the 2nd of those racings, you are far off the mark

you had just one horse running for you after the last fence in ireland against 2 or 3 others, and if that hadnt of scrambled home you would have lost 30 or so pts

bookies dont use this ploy, they underlay, and the more you back in a race the bigger slice you give them, hth

Thanks for the input Tai, easy to say now but both winners today would of been amongst my Amsterdam fancies today.

1 Andiamo Via 7/2F
2 Greenhead High 11/2
3 Il Battista 11/2

1 Kambis 9/2
2 Cridda Boy 5/1
3 Torran Sound 8/1

Shamus, Tai, I am going to have a go for small stakes on certain races starting tomorrow..

PRINCE OF BURMA 7/2 BOG  7-20 5PTS

CD winner who has won for me the last two Wednesdays and been transformed with the fitting of blinkers , looks a horse going places with at least another win in his locker in his current form. Had a chance with an engagement at the weekend but Ian Mongan wasn't available so the extra few days rest and dropping back to 7f could see the hat-trick pulled off..

Thanks lads, sometimes you just have to take chances.

Out of luck at the moment but I've got a feeling things might change for the better come tomorrow afternoon. The first one should of won for me and Wee William Carson last Friday in the shape of  CUT THE CACKLE who he tried to take between two horses only to be blocked in their tracks, when he got this beautiful looking mare out into the clear she finished like **** off a shovel and was just denied. Compensation awaits , as they say.

The other is a horse I think is going places, PRINCE OF BURMA has come alive and kicking with blinkers fitted and won with a ton in hand and two in the bush over CD 10 days ago, he was pulled out of a 7f affair at Kempton on Wednesday but this mile will be more to his liking stepping up to class 3 level.

Looks sure to appreciate the trip and ground Billy, with a good claimer booked he's sure to give his supporters a run for their money. Not entirely sure if M P Walsh would have had the choice regards riding arrangements, if so that would be the only slight negative .
PS. has a very decent record in this month. 3 wins from 4 attempts.

That's right Rob, he won on debut on Valentines day 08 and then has saved his best for the month of February for the next two years. I have a little system for Irish NH and had a little bit last night at double figures.
SMOKING ACES looks well fancied now and has an awful lot going for him. He needs a break of about a month or a little more between winning races and each win in February was proceeded by a run in December, the ground must be Soft/Heavy and at the age of eight is maturing nicely for these 3m5f contests. He is entered at Cheltenham and The Grand National (80/1) and looks to be well weighted compared to Mark Walsh's ride and other JP Macmanus horse IN GREAT FORM.

he was kept out the back all the way round billy. in fact can be counted very unlucky not to have been placed. ran right up the back of 1 about half way round who fell, also blocked twice more coming round the bend and when 1 fell on the flat. only lost out on a place by a length. never put in the race though to actually have a chance of winning it!!

Maybe one to watch out for come March Glenwood..

A bookie I know has offered me 33/1 that I can't repeat last years success. I got talking to him at a party at Christmas and asked him what odds he would give me for a 250 pound bet. Since then it has gone down hill a bit with the cross bar rattling after a John Toshack header.

STAGE ONE  102pts profit  (1pt level stakes)
STAGE TWO  104pts profit  (1-4pts stakes)
STAGE THREE 71pts profit  (4-6pt stakes)
277pts profit  (52 Weeks)

He got in touch earlier today and the bet has now been struck , to simplify things we have agreed on 150pts level stakes profit starting tomorrow for one year. He has obviously been looking in and fancies his chances with me taking my eye off the ball of late.
All bets will be 1pt win , 1/2pt doubles, ew etc.

Any thoughts.
