Seemed a nice enough bloke to me - a bloody travesty that the result was adjusted (this type of interference happens weekly without recourse within UK racing).
Just wondered how he made his money?
Had his filly won, it would have made one amazing story and possibly given the guy the happiness he so craves. I am not ante French, just genuinely feel that this decision is never given by 99% of stewards and so I guess today, like with football, the Newmarket judges that be have made a name for themselves.
As I said, his filly should have kept the race for the reasons outlined.
The story was of fairytale proportions and the right conclusion in light of the filly whom finished first past the post.
Newmarket stewards = very very poor.

£230k over 7 years will not have covered the purchase fees and the bills for the horses he has had.
Must have had a few quid from the start - just wondered how he made this?

like a previos poster put it on another thread earlier, why does no one ask the same question about david johnson and any other big owners , pretty sad really just a matter of cicumstance, and i am in no way aiming this at you sir talbot just assumptions that many people will make

Agree - I just read he was a construction worker too. I am not in any way pointing the finger or whatever. To the other poster, I have looked into other owners who interest me...always liked the Andy Stewart over the sticks so had a look at where he made his wealth.
Just there's nothing on the chap Martin.

my mate said it was drug money. i suspect his compensation was quite high from germany. i've googled it and found nothing.
Shocking! Just cos he is a Jamaican.

I guess in my own mind, I wanted to substantiate if this was an near as we're going to get to a rags to riches story, has his horse won - or whether he was seriously minted and where today's win wouldn't in real terms have made a blind bit of difference.

Watch racing day to day - this sort of incident happens at least once a week and as per owners comments today, results are never altered.
It is complete and utter bowlacks - logical decision would have been places unaltered, jockey 3 day ban. Not rocket science, not difficult.
Stewards a complete fking joke.

correct talbot , i thought it was a complete travesty too, if the horses had finished the other way round then i doubt very much the same would have happened

Watch racing, day and night, UK and Ireland - this incident happens not quite day in and day out but almost certainly 1/2 a week - NEVER does a result get turned over. I would say today's switching of result represents about 1 in every 25 decisions. Therefore, not representative of the day to day reality.
What do we want to do boys? Have ponsey results for ponsey races to make ourselves look good globally? Or do we want consistency?
I for one am all about the latter as this is the only way to breed credibility.

so rather than let the nicest man in Newmarket who everybody seems to love keep the race, they stripped him of the victory because of the owner......... in favour of the French??????

Its not a case of nice owner, Cecil, French Jenny Pitman and an Arab - it's about CONSISTENCY.
It's about when this next happens in a £1.5k claimer round Lingfield keeping to this letter - if not, then the system is a complete fking mockery.
I would suggest, as previous, this kind of overhaul happens 1 in every 25 of these cases. In this instance what do we go with? Do we go with the 24 examples of that 25, or the 1 just to make us look good in the eyes of the International racing community?
For me, the outcome was completely non sensical.

That's right cardiff, and that's where the masses are completely divvy on this one.
The majority of the time the result would have STOOD. Not about wrongs and rights, it is about CONSISTENCY - its about being as CONSISTENT as possible in day to day decision making.
How can people not get this?!?

Well said Sir Talbit , was there today and noel was very distraught. You see that kind of interference all the time and the result is never reversed. Sariska at Epsom , Ajaan a couple of seasons back at newmarket were far worse cases.

I completely agree that consistency is the name of the game.
I also think that under the regulations that apply the stewards made the right decision.
I do not watch as much as racing as you but have seen a similar incident happen over jumps and the result reversed, but I bow to your experience in that it happens one or two times a week without the result being changed.
To convince me (and I am not being cheeky and anyone can answer) could you give me an example and I will watch a replay (will have to be an ATR meeting though) as I was of the opinion that stewarding had become more level.
I must stress that I am not being facetious but would like to see an example - thank you
Billy

there is no consistency in any sport at the min that is the prob ST i was just pointing out a e.g with that rhinestone race but that day he should of won but didnt get the race in stewards room then today similar thing an horses are amended joke imo ,but its same in football, rugby etc its ruining the sports imo

This is why this bowlacks about the LETTER OF THE LAW is indeed complete and utter RUBBISH.
The law is applied day in day out, from Ascot to Wolverhampton - today's decision was massively INCONSISTENT in the context of those decisions that are made daily.
This is where the TRAVESTY lies.
If I were today's owner, I would scour back over every race of the past 12 months and probably find 50 instances of interference like todays, within which there will be 1/2, maybe 3 reversal of finishing order MAX. Might get it on appeal if he can get the manpower to carry out this task, or atleast prompt a debate at a higher level into ironing out our laws of racing so as to make them C-O-N-S-I-S-T-E-N-T!

Sir T plenty of sense in your comments but i fail to understand the logic behind the thread. Is his money being questioned just because he is of different colour Afterall owners win every day of the week without recourse to this kind of a thread

My initial question was just to figure out a bit more about the 'winning' owner - just interested in his story pre the accident. Also wanted to know if this was as near a rags to riches story as we're likely to get in flat racing, or whether the bloke is minted and where today's result wouldn't have made a jot of difference.
Not agenda - just genuinely interested in the guy.

it was compensation , and for what he has gone through i think you could any price on that. To read some of the earlier threads i find them quite sickening people laughing at this guy. I for one didnt find this thread at al about the colour of his skin.

Does anyone seriously believe that a Coolmore Magnier or Godolphin beast would have been thrown out today?
I have expected a newmarket jobsworth to try and throw Cecil's owners out of the winners enclosure!
If Abdullah had anything about him he would give the prize money to the 2nd.
Oh and here's a question how did Prince Khalled Abdullah get his title and his money?
;)

I read that article - I wasnt on here earlier so no idea what people were saying.
I just hope the guy's filly goes on from this and can run really well in top races for the rest of the season. Would be nice for him and the filly to pick up a G1 before the season is out.

I would also appeal, whilst minor intereference did take place the jockey on the second never at any stage stopped riding and had every chance to go by imo. The winner wanted it more.

How **ing idiotic do you have to be, to imagine that having been a construction worker in East Germany and made paraplegic by a racist attack, that you would then somehow become capable of becoming a big time drug dealer?
**ing retards imo. Compensation is the only possible explanation. try using one of your two remaining braincells.

Complete and total ar$e gravy (like most of your posts here). How often do horses get carted 10-15 metres, get bumped twice in the last furlong and get beaten a Croc-style "flared nostril"? How you can possibly say it is the wrong decision, even for a toilet you like you, is beyond belief.

Imo you'd have to be a complete idiot to think the result should stand. Special Duty was beaten an inch at the most and had been bumped and then carried across the track. If anyone thinks that Special Duty was not hampered to the exent of more than an inch they are blind. It was a completely straightforward decision. No one without an agenda could possibly think otherwise.

What also has gone without comment is how Pasquier also had his whip in the wrong hand - granted, the Cecil horse was drifting into his mount, but nonetheless he too didn't take any action.

2nd never had to stop riding which is why they never normaly get reversed and both jocks when that close have to whip with that hand or theyd hit the other horse or jockey u see jockeys have to pull the horse back when cut up and get beaten half length surley that costs a horse more than a length so its stupid that decisions only get reversed if a nose u can basicaly muller the other horse make it stop and as long as u beat it more than a nose nothing hapens even if u cost the horse 2 lengths and win by 1/2

He 'worked in construction' in Germany. Not the same thing as being a 'construction worker'. He has his own building firm. He's a businessman in other words. Wonder why it warrants such interest? Oh , that's right because it might be a rags to riches story. lol . Ignorance has nearly killed him and now it's ok for people to speculate that he might be a criminal. How the f? is this thread still up BF?

This thread was originally one of intrigue. Having seen the post race interview I merely wanted to know what this guy was doing before his horrific accident/attack.
